i have a friend named galen, and somehow he pulled it off so that nobody really ever made fun of him as far as i know. if nobody is going to make fun of you in the first place, youre probably not going to get made fun of because of your name. then again, ive only known him since middle school, maybe he got made fun of in elementary school or something. either way it wasnt a big deal for him.

the reason you shouldnt name your kid aragorn or blade isnt because people will neccessarily make fun of the kid for having a lame name in the first place, its because they will assume the kid has nerdy trailer trash parents, and if your kid is already going to be ostracized to begin with, having a name like that is really not going to help. basically, you cant assume that your kid will be popular enough to pull a name like that off, although all parents would like to.

also, maybe i dont know very much about this, but the kids i know that are half ethnic, half white dont seem to be invited to chill with the kids that are 100% of said ethnicity. i know at uva there are huge communities of indians, pakistanis, and whatever, and none of the kids i know that are in those groups are half white, i dont know. so it seems like you could also confuse the shit out of the kid by naming it an indian first name when its already going to have an indian last name to begin with.
