  • And the Lord said, "Let there be specs!"

I need to go buy a new computer over the weekend. Being away from TW for over two weeks is giving me seperation anxiety and I'm not going to be able to last much longer without some kind of strong medication that works better than a bottle of whiskey.

To save me the trouble of deciding which parts I need, list all the best hardware I should be demanding in my new, uber system. No expense will be spared.
Bear in mind we're not that advanced in Australia. Yes, we ride around in kangaroo pouches, have barbeques every night, and we have snakes in our backyards. What we have available here could be up to three months older than what you may have where you are, unless I was to have it shipped in.

But again, time is of the essence. I must be reconnected quickly or mother will be poking me with a broom to pry me off of the ceiling.

this isnt "top" notch by anyones standards but im preatty sure its available in AUS, and its more than enough for some simple SS .

    AMD A64 3200+/3800+ (i.e. between that range)
Some s754 or s939 motherboard (depends on whats available there processor wise, s939 would be the "smarter" choice since s754 is getting phased out.) Id recommend Asus or Abit, gigabyte have nice motherboards too mind.
512-1024mb pc3200 DDR RAM (budget depending)
Nvidia GF6800Ultra (if you really have lots of cash, buy 2, and run em SLI, but youd need some motherboard with 2x PCI-E ports, which means s939 is a must.

i guess you can sort out the rest really depending on budget and need, i.e. HD size etc.

Disp + Tel's avatars are pretty similar, just diff people and zoom. I'll need to get a snappy computer soon too, I'll probably leech of the info that comes here. One thing though, noisy computers are horrible, it's all gotta be virtually silent for me.

My computer sounds like a broken vacuum cleaner. But ah well, you get used to it after a while and nowadays I can actually sleep in the same room when it's on.

NEVER buy Thermaltake (Tt) fans- they are the worst for noise.
