  • I need youguyses opinions on what the best distribution of Linux is.

I'm looking to install Linux on my laptop (My laptop came with a 5gig partition that I can put music on and when the computer is off, it plays when I use a button on the side of my computer). The reasons are one, I'm pretty sure it would save me battery- less CPU intensity = less power used. Two, I could also use it as a CD-bootable type thing.

Right now I'm thinking about Knoppix for the boot CD solution, unless you guys have other experiences?

    Thanks.

Mandrake is meant to be better for people new to Linux.
Just don't get a distro that's too hardcore, you will regret it.

I've heard good things about Gentoo also, but I've never used Linux.
