HowToCreate.com made an interesting (and VERY thorough) experiment, testing the speed of various windows, linux and mac internet browsers. Nothing about what the browsers can do (most browsers can show a somewhat normal webpage ok-ish nowdays), just the raw speed.

Opera: 3,66 s
IE 6.0: 6,99 s
Firefox 1.0: 11,54 s
Mozilla 1.8: 11,94 s

You know that you can chance the amount of pipelining in Firefox right? By default it's set at 2, but I sorta changed a couple things and now it's at 50 ;-)
