wtf is blooming?

Bloom is basically the feature that gives light a more glowy look. So, in that way, what I said before was a little redundant. The extreme end of blooming results in that angelic, dream-like, "blinded by the light" appearance you'll see in some tv shows, movies, games, etc. Also, pro sports broadcasts (at least here in America) have become fond of using high bloom when replaying highlights after the games and such. Especially in the playoffs. Gives it a sort've melodramatic, "history in the making" grandeur, I guess.

It's because all the screenshots in GW are done at max rez with anti aliasing, full bloom, really zoomed in, etc etc etc, settings you'd never actually _play_ with. For like the billionth time WoW has EQ level graphics, but it makes up for it with miles of style.

Still, it is nice to occasionally zoom way in in many games, when you've done most of what needs to be done for the moment, and the game is just playing out. I'm not saying that WC3 has bad graphics at all, anyway. Besides, I play SS.. I'm not exactly a "must have only the latest mind and ass-blowing graphics" junkie.

being only a hunter, how does the mind control thing work, do you get a menu bar to direct them with or is it done by clicking only?

WHat do you mean menu bar? All it is, you MC them, you're now in THEIR view... you can't control your priest at all, only them. You have access to the spells on their first bar (I don't remember if this is true for pvp, it is for pve though), and you can walk them around just as you would walk yourself around. MC used to be a lot more fun when it had a 1 minute timer, but now that you can only control them for 15 minutes, it's really not the same, and there's not much you can do in that time unless there's lava involved.

Mind control has its uses, in PvE mostly.

In PvP mind control never lasts much longer than 15 seconds, and it's only useful if you can throw the MC-ed player off a cliff in that time. I once threw someone from Felwood down into Darkshore, that's one hell of a run I can tell you.

In PvE instance runs it can be incredibly helpful, but it is rather dangerous as well. If mind control breaks (early or after 1 minute) or is resisted, you will get a shitload, and I mean a shitload of aggro. The warrior will hardly be able to pull the mob off of you, if at all.
So basically, if MC goes wrong, you're in big trouble and it may end up getting the group wiped.

The only time I've found MC useful is in UBRS/Scholo raids, and back in my 40s with SM (just MC the paladins and heal your team away, while having them take a beating).

- Stratholme Scarlet Conjurers
- BRD Dwarf Priests (they have group heal!)
- one of the Ogres in LBRS has a single target Bloodlust buff, increasing attack speed by 60%, your melee will love you for it.

Also for using MC in PvP, I think it's incredibly lame to camp BRM and use it on people who pass by. Though I'm more than happy to toss anyone who attacks me or my fellow horde into the lava.

I'm on this one quest, where you gotta kill Ursel the Mauler.

So I was like, gonna stab him in the face with my staff, but then this Gnarlpine Shaman kept dropping healing wards all around him, so I went around killing those, and then it attracted about everyone around and then I died .... the end :/
