Can't stand this fucking thing, and I loved De-Loused. They really fucked it up this time.
The part of "Miranda" that isn't bad drone music is highly enjoyable, and "The Widow" (before the bullshit at the end) is okay. "L'Via" is also tolerable, but I wouldn't put it on if I was looking for something to listen to.
Hmm looks like a lot of mixed opinions. I like this CD a lot, and I loved De-Loused and Tremulant (not to mention how much I love at the drive-in). I think this is probably the best stuff that The Mars Volta has put out but it's definitely not as managable as De-Loused. It reminds me a lot of an early 70s Yes album or a Pink Floyd album sort of. Love the Latin influences. Best CD of this year, I'll bet.
im not a big fan of the song they play on mtv2, whatever that is. at the drive in fucked themselves by breaking up, both of the offshoot bands are nowhere near as good.

Assuming the JP copy is the same, way too much post production killed many of the songs. Incidently this is a concept album about their dead sound guy.
If this album were a .psd file, it would be gaussian blured to fuck with lens flared added to distract from anything good.
