Yeah, I just tested it in a personal server, and yeah, its still horrible, this is quite sad. Better than the movie, but still not close to perfect at all.
For some reason, everything that plays in media player through my browser plugin looks really fucked up. It's all green/pink and bright and shit. What's up with that?
My windows media used to not even play through the browser, it would sit there with the progress bar all chopped up.
I did it and it does seem a lot better than the video. I want to try it with someone over the internet, see if it compensates for the lag the way it is now or if it gets more fucked up.
personally i never notcied the hit box shitty error thing, but there were loads of complaints in my college about them and how source is "shite"
i dont think its that bad, the only problem is the lag on crowded servers sometimes.

Thats because you can't see it. Its still there and I'm sure you've been killed sometimes and have been like "wtf?" afterwards. Most of the time its not lucky shots that are getting me, its the hitboxes being fucked.
CS:Source will fuck up your normal 1.6 game something crazy, really anything that requires aim. Thats why you take an AK, hold down fire, and wiggle the crosshair all over the place.

im naturaly crap and say "wtf?" anytime i get killed

I think maybe my machine is lagging and fucking me up. I keep running into a situation where an enemy rounds a corner and I'm waiting with the M3, ready to disintegrate their face, except when they peek their head out and I go to blow it off, the goddamn hit doesn't register whatsoever. I just don't get it. I've got 3Mbps DSL, so I'm usually pinging no higher than 50ms on all of the servers I play on. This seems to be happening with a few other guns as well. I swear to god I'm hitting a guy like crazy, but he just doesn't drop. I don't know if it's a CS:S thing or what though. I don't know all that much about CS in general.
Okay, remember the video you saw, with the coloured wireframes that were lagging in front or behind the player? That wireframe model was the players 'hitboxes'

They're the areas designated by the designers that show where you must hit to do any sort of damage on the model of the player. And with modern gaming, some spots on the model do more damage or less damage than others.
Example : Shot to foot - 5 damage. Shot to head - 100 damage.
Now, what you saw was that the hitbox models do not line up with moving players all that well. It is not as dramatic today as when it was back when the movie was made, but it still is way too off to play. Now, what does this mean for us players?
You will sit at a corner and wait for the Opposing Force to come around that said corner. When you see him come up, you'll shoot at his face. By any normal logic, the man should be dead, with his head in several pieces strewn about the ground ahead of you. But, the hitbox for that said head is about an inch to the left of the player's model. Therefore you never hit the hitboxes that gave the player any damage, but you did manage to hit the player model for 0 damage.
And yes, to my knowledge, with optimal settings, CS:Source has the biggest problem with the hitboxes, not much if at all with other games.
