I can play the guitar generally quite well, I'm pretty fast at learning new stuff on tab and memorising it well.

However when it comes to stringing, I've never actually done it.

It's not really that hard to string a guitar. To even save more time, by a winder...they are great for acoustics. Makes popping the pins at the bottom as well as quick winding for your machine heads, unless it has a classical style head?

Electric strings have a longer life than my strings on my acoustics. You don't have to play um as hard! The strings I have on my Steinberger are double ended, as there is no actual machine heads nor a head to the neck and all tuning is done from the Tremelo.

So many instruments and so many styles of stringing...enjoy it...and if you want advice on a tuner, unless you have perfect pitch, get the new tuners that clip on the head stock of your guitar as they tune from vibration and not sound from a cheap mic. Makes it easy to tune on the fly especially if you are jamming with a few people. Intellitouch PT-1 or PT-2 are great and not so pricey if you get them on eBay.

I decided to pick up guitar this summer since I have little else to do besides work. So far it seems pretty easy just to teach yourself. But I do have a fairly long history with music having played violin 6 years, trumpet 5 years, and clarinet 2 years.
