Yeah on Ewan's one you have to complete offers which will lead you to paying for a subscription to either a betting site, dieting site or gaming site etc.

with the iriver you get a lot more than just music. you can view pictures, text files, full length movies, listen to radio, and record internally and externally. the recording is awesome. i have nice quality recordings of things like me playing guitar and my friends rambling drunkenly. i also converted the old tapes that i own to mp3 using the record function. it also works with radio broadcasts since it has an FM tuner.. it's quite handy.

Well you can do all of those things with an iPod too... they have something called iPodLinux which is a Linux distribution for iPods. With it, you can view pictures/text etc as well as record in high quality through the headphone jack. They are also working on a movie player, and there are tons of fun games you can install, like Tetris, Pong, Connect4, Bust-a-Move, etc.

As for the freeipods site, yes you need a credit card and yes you need to sign up for one of their offers and they all cost something.

I was checkin' the free ipods offer out around the holiday season and it seems that it was bait for email solicitations to be sent to you. I used a hotmail account, but after page after page of annoying questions I blew off finishing the entire procedure to get this free ipod. I got an Archos player instead and refit it with a 100GB Notebook HD since it only came with a 40GB HD. The size of the player was bigger than the ipod, but it works well for file tranfers from work to home & the still & vid camera attachement works great.

I give it a year or two before it is all combined into a cell phone at a reasonible price.

yes it does work but now it's harder...before you didn't need a credit card to do it so it took me like 5 minutes to get everything done..only problem is now you need a credit card for all of them...i think?

on an unrelated note, my lcd screen broke and i need a new one...not sure how the warrenty will work on that.....hm!
