I really don't understand the point of the thing except to brag about how your musical interests are way cool.

it gives you recommendations of what to listen to based on what you already like, and keeps charts so that you can tabulate what the most people are listening to that are slightly more interesting than the billboard charts. it can also bring you into contact with people who share a certain %age of your favorite bands so you can hook up with them on soulseek or something. it also provides impromptu message boards for every particular user group or band listed as an interest.
