I'm sure there's a lot more with non-cookie-cutter topic names that I didn't pick up too.

Well I didn't check them all, but I'm confident over half of them still play trenchwars in one form or another. The point I'm trying to make is shut up. If you want to go, just go. Most people claim that they need to let friends know about it, but they could just easily drop a message or use some kind of icq/msn/aim to tell friends about it. And even then, I dont think they'd care a shitload. And for those of you who think making a retirement thread actually makes you more popular..no. As a matter of fact, if you slip away silently, people will actually start talking about it.

So to reduce further wastes of bandwidth with its subsequent pages of replies on such a useless topic, just stop starting them.

16/22 were last seen less than 10 days ago (and ~12 were last seen less than 24h ago) even if they made their retirement thread like 2 months ago. So as I said long time ago (and got trashed by 1000 other people who think those threads are cool), put these straight to useless crap/trash talk or don't make these at all.

I don't know why they make these threads either. For the people that they actually talk to on a daily basis, you know the people that would actually care, they can find out via pm and messages. It's just some vain way to get attention and see how many people will miss you if you leave.

I respect Kim for that. I think most of the people who quit here though, seriously want to quit. It's just kind of hard to, but they figure if they quit they can let their friends know by just spreading the word.

Not for attention, but come on, you're not going to sit in SS and tell each person you were friends with that you quit. Too much effort.

I agree that it is quite tiresome to see all of these retirement threads, but having said that, its nice when someone lets people know that they're leaving so theres no mystery surrounding a sudden disappearing act by a certain person.

Maybe banning or reseting name ingame would be good sollution. Those who retire surely wouldnt notice/care
