  • Movie review: Batman Begins (no spoilers)

The movie is pretty good - really! The amount of superhero shows lately have set the standards pretty high, and this movie meets almost all of them: emotional turmoil, stunts, graphics, atmosphere, etc. Probably the most detailed out of all the batman movies - it tells the story about how Bruce wayne became "batman" and why he actually chose bats, because we've all got to wonder at some point and time, there are scarier flying creatures out there.

The movie's downside is perhaps the acting of the new batman, come on now people this Bale guy was in equilibrium where he was trying to find "feelings" like he does in this movie. He was unbelievable as batman. Also, the movie has no identifiable villans. I'm not a big comic buff, but the only villans i could've made out was the scarecrow and the joker, both of which were only mentioned.

    score: 6/10
ups: best batman movie ever (which doesnt say much), storytelling, acting (everyone besides batman and stupid katie holmes), gfx
downs: interesting but not entertaining. lead role was done horribly. who/where is the scarecrow?

conclusion: worth seeing! answers a lot of questions about batman and how stuff works in later movies.

Now how can you say that this Batman is the best movie of all Batman movies made when Tim Burton made Batman and Batman Returns (both with the best Batman casted so far - Michael Keaton)? I still think the original Batman is in my top 25 movies of all time - but maybe it's just that I'm a big fan of Tim Burton.

I thought it was quite a decent movie. A solid 6/10 maybe even 6.5 or as high as 7. Definitely better than the majority of the comic book movies with Spiderman being better.

it's a 7.5 -- Liam adds some real entertaining acting and I thoguht the guy that played scarecrow did a good job too. As for batman himself, people seem to expect way to bunch -- the Batman character is emotionally SHUT DOWN -- thus to play him perfectly, an actor must have basically no emotion. Christian Bale was fine as batman, the movie was entertaining to non-batman fans (BATMAN IS A MOTHER FUCKING NINJA) but to real hardcore Batman fans i'm sure it was out of this world.
The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

There were no recognizable villains because NONE EXISTED YET. That's the whole idea of the story; all of Batman's crazy enemies were all released from Arkham during the chaos and driven mad from the gas. This movie wasn't just about Batman's origins but the origins of his enemies too. That's one of the major themes of the comics too: the question of whether there'd be all these crazy madmen if there were no Batman.

I was so devastated that there were no sexual tension between the scarycrew and Katie holmes. It would definitely be a better movie if Dr Gas wanted her really badly, then batman flied along and swept her away.
            :fear:

If I give World of Wars a 6.3/10, Batman begins definitely deserves a 7.5/10.

Anyone know if there are any other good Bale movies? I remember someone said the movie Equilibrium was bad ... but I wanna see it now just bc Bale is in it.

Little Women if you enjoy movies like that.

He was in the remake of Shaft too, right? Shaft is one of my favorite "kickass cool" movies.

Metroland is underrated in my opinion, and especially if you like bale (who makes a good performance here) it should be a safe choice.

As a person who doesnt follow up on comics, I found the movie excellent! It had ninjas AND zombies (if you can call them zombies), what more can you want? :P

the only thing i found difficult to follow were the fight scenes. the action was hard to follow, maybe because of the camera angles or the crusty theatre

What? Did you watch the movie?

I agree with the post above mine that fight scenes were too chaotic and you couldn't really tell what was happening. Everything else was real good though

Bale was incredible in American Psycho and has disappointed ever since. Just watch that, one of the most charismatic films in recent memory.

                              8.5/10

i thought it was ridiculously good, even possibly better than the rest of the Batman series (which i didn't like at all)

imo the movie was quite realistic, humorous in some parts, and had a fairly interesting story line, so i enjoyed it
