    True, American gas is hellacious cheap. Here we have to pay about $1.72 per LITRE (read: LITRE, not gallons). And over 50% of that price is government excise.

    So stop whining.

      On Sunday July 10th, the UK average price of Unleaded fuel passed the £4 a gallon barrier for the first time ever. Average prices for all regions are now over £4 a gallon. That's $7.20 a UK gallon or $1.58 a litre (I think).
