Anyone use any music creating software?

I'm looking for some good software to make music entirely on the computer. The software doesn't need to be free or anything. Also, I'm using WindowsXP.

I'm looking for something that is easy to use-- I want to do both drums and other instruments (electric guitars if possible). I'd rather it not be some lame midi crap either. :P

Anyone into this kind of thing? I could use some recommendations.

Cool Edit Pro.

It is easy to find some ways of.. ahem.. acquiring it.

I found it had the most features and was very easy to use.

Calling them "wav editors" is a misnomer. SoundForge is a wav editor. GoldWave is a wav editor.

Audition is much more than a simple WAV editor.

Cool Edit Pro is not a WAV editor. Assface. Before I got a Mac, I used Cool Edit Pro and Cakewalk, all of which I liked, but if you are going for simple mp3 maker Cool Edit Pro is the way to go.

I'm looking for a program I can record onto, and then splice the things I record together on different layers to easily edit them. Is that what this Audition program does?

You can do that with Audition, yeah.

I really like GarageBand for the Mac OS, but I heard some good things about Logic 7, is it worth the 500 dollars or whatever.

I do sound production for Local movies and bands.
