  • I just bought plane tickets to London

So anyway, I know a lot of people are living in London or quite near or at least know a lot about London. I've never been to England before so I'd like to have some info about good cheap hotels (I didn't book any), great places to visit, where to get good beer, would anyone like to hear me speak lousy English etc. We're leaving 23th this month with my girlfriend, pretty soon, and our flight back home leaves around 6am on 27th.

                      My tips for visiting England:

                      1) Bring a brolly
                      2) Avoid the kids in burberry
                      3) Bring plenty of money
                      4) Try to conceal your americaness(assuming you are)
                      5) Again if you're american and you visit a fast food store, your medium is our large
                      6) We drive on the right side of the road here so be wary of that too.

That's all I can think of now.

EDIT: Yes it was nailed, I'm happy to see someone took notice.
EDIT 2: I now see that you're finnish, in which case you've nothing to worry about, London is one quarter foreigners.

I did a quick search on hotels and the cheapest I found was about 200e for the two of us for three nights. That's the Regent Palace Hotel.

That's probably what we're gonna end up with. Do you have any idea of the prices and the quality?

That's a good price for three nights in central London. The problem is the only hotels in central London that charge that little are pretty run down. Cool if you just want to be in the centre, but don't expect anything nice. If you want nice you'll have to look further out or pay a lot more. Take a look at http://www.tripadvisor.com and see what comments people have left about the hotel.
