Ottawa - Only opposition that I see them having here is Toronto, but with Hasek as their netminder, I don't see him giving up many goals this season. Ottawa never had much trouble with the offense, so they should be a true force in this season for the cup.
Buffalo
Montreal
Boston
Toronto
Southeast
Carolina
Florida
Washington
Atlanta
Tampa Bay - Can they repeat their last season's success? I say they will take the title, but I doubt they will have as much success as they will last season. I label them as a fluke, unfortunately. Sean Burke as goalie? Nah.
Atlantic
Philadelphia
N.Y. Islanders
Pittsburgh
New Jersey - I'm gonna say that NJ takes it in accordance to their previous seasons' performances. However, I'm pretty sure that Philly is gonna be at their doorstep if Forsberg stays out of the scratches list this season. Pittsburgh? I don't think Crosby will be a force....yet. He can't carry his team as much as people think he can. Pens are still a pretty dead team. Definitely still a competitor for the cup.
N.Y. Rangers
Western
Central
Detroit - Detroit are still a force despite losing some big names (CuJo and Hull), but stevie Y is still going strong, and the chelios/shannahan duo are still as cheap as ever. Not forgetting about the dynamic pair that is Draper and Maltby. Despite not acquiring any big names this season, their core is strong enough to support any new additions that may be brought to the team. Dont think they got a chance to win the cup though however.
Nashville
Chicago
St. Louis
Columbus
Pacific
San Jose
Los Angeles - Quite a toss-up of a division, but I'm gonna say LA Kings are gonna do some damage this season with their recently acquired big names: Roenick, Conroy, and the ever dangerous Demitra. Aside the already lethal Lucky Luc, if chemistry sparks, there could be magic that would easily overthrow the new guys at PHX and the veterans at Dallas who would probably be constantly knocking at the Sharks' door this season for the title.
Anaheim
Dallas
Phoenix
Northwest
Colorado
Calgary
Vancouver - Its without a doubt, that Vancouver would be coming up strong this season as a definite competitor for the cup. Their strong base that has kept them going for seasons will be put to the test once again. Kesler and Baumgartner show much promise, as for Carter, the newest acquired veteran, should bring some much needed direction for the twins' line. With the top line reunited, and Bertuzzi untouchable in his 'zone', he'll be seen doing what he does best in front of the goalie's face. Old rivals will meet for the title in this division, as Calgary is the foreseen runner up. This meaning, I believe, that Avs won't be a force in my books.
