  • Adobe & Macromedia merger

So who will be the competition now?

    Quark?<--only on Post Script/print press
    Correl/Jasc? <--doubtful

Wonder if they will continue on separate paths with there software or will they combine and make it all in one?

Someone made a fortune on this merge.

I've been working in tech support for 4+ years on postscript printers/presses. And there has never really been any competition for Adobe, people love their pdfs... I rarely see Quark being used, and even less likely to see people using Corel.

Not sure if they would combine the softwares, it'll probably be similar to the HP & Compaq merger. Same product just new logos.

Abode and Macromedia weren't really in competition.

Macromedia's flagship products were flash, dreamweaver, coldfusion, and a host of colaboration related software.

Adobe makes Photoshop and Illustrator, which don't compete directly with any of the above. Both companies do have lesser products such as Macromedia's freehand or Adobe's golive , but none of them had significant market share.

Competition is dead in this market because it's a big investment to learn a new UI. the GIMP is FREE but "free" is expensive if it takes you 2 months to reach the same level of proficency you had in photoshop.
