Yeah, MGS is a 3rd person stealth action game, not first person shooter. Even if you have a button to manually aim in the first person, it doesn't give it the title FPS. Hideo Kojima even joked at that with his latest trailer for MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots, with the tag line "Not FPS, MGS!"

Doom was an ok way to kill a few hours... I paid to see it but oh well, 've paid to see worse.

Case in point... I rented Dungeon & Dragons because I had never seen it... good Lord that has got to be the crappiest fantasy movie I have EVER seen. I want to try and rent Willow again... questions, what are some good fantasy movies, save LotR?

Fantasy movies in general are usually shit. LoTR was a good exception. There's always Conan the Barbarian, but that's just silly, not really fantastic.

Half-Life's pretty much the only fps with a better storyline.

i think you mean deus ex, but half-life was alright, i guess. unreal had a decent storyline. fwiw, halo seemed like it was going to have a tolerable storyline until that bullshit "flood" nonsense 1/4 of the way through the first game, at which point it all went to shit

My friends and I all paid to see Doom. For $9 Cdn I can honestly say I didn't regret the money spent. You just had to go in with low expectations, that way most of the movie does alright and the little first person 7 minutes at the end is just a bonus. If anyone has read the original Doom books (3 books back in Doom II days meant for like 14 year olds) you would see that there is a decent story line they could have used, but many of the monsters would be really hard to put in with pure computer graphics. Plus the entire first book was basically one guy all alone so it would make for very little dialogue.... although that might be for the best.

Anyways, decent (the bar was set pretty low before LotR) fantasy movies:

1. Willow
2. Legend
3. Conan movies
4. Kull the Conqueror (I thought it was good....)
