at the beginning it says "a long time ago in a galaxy far far away" if it was so long ago how come we dont have any decendents of their shit now(if you think of it like not being a book )

I'm only theorising but perhaps the human race got sick of the Wookies and fled to a distant galaxy far far away to a little blue green planet in the middle of nowhere. They landed then destroyed all their technology and wrote their history on some stone slabs, 4000 years later a young lad discovers these stone tablets while hicking and turns them into a series of 6 movies. I think your thinking of Han and Leias kids, cause theres lots of books about them. There are not going to be another trilogy set after the end of Return of the Jedi. There had been plans, but Lucas realised if he did it, he'd ruin star wars for everybody. Even though I would have liekd to see a movie about Thrawn.

I think they need continuity approval from Lucasarts before they can produce their novels. Lucas seems like the kind of guy who would want to keep a tight leash on things, so I doubt the various authors who write these books have free rein.

There are a gazillion books that were written and are still being written on the SW galaxy after the original trilogy. Many stay along the path of "true SW" and kick ass like Timothy Zahn, but there are some authors (Kevin J Anderson) that take too much liberty and just plain suck and ruin SW for the real fans. I'm sure they all have to be approved in some fashion, but I don't think the guy that does it is very bright, especially if it's Lucas. I haven't touched the books in many years, so I don't know the quality of the newish novels.

Lucas has said in the past that he will not be making another trilogy, mostly because he would like to spend some of his life with his kids, but there is speculation that someone else may be asked to produce one, even Spielberg. But that's rumor. Right now all I know of is that there is supposed to be a Star Wars TV "show" or something coming up in the future soon..ish. And I heard Kevin Smith's name floating around. I don't recall much that was said about this supposed show, maybe someone else does.

Lucas has said for sure he is doing the television show. He's said he's making 100 episodes, filming them all before the first episode airs, and that it takes place shortly after the events of revenge of the sith and before a new hope. thats the last i heard about it 6 months ago.
