  • Canadians! Vote NDP

I'm way too busy with finals right now to dedicate a bunch of time to making a big long post but I will later.

Canada is in the midst of a federal election and I think of all the parties the one with the most pro-subspace platform is the New Democratic Party of Canada. I, a Moderator and TWD Op, officially endorse the platform of the above party and it's charismatic leader Jack Layton. I am appealing to all Canadian Subspace players to vote on January 23rd for the party which will stand up for you, your health care, your children, your environment, for peace around the world, and for honest and accountable government. Thank you for reading.

I know what you're trying to say but you're sort of implying that TW staff is also supporting the NDP with you acting as their representative.

Troll King, come on!! A "pro-Subspace" platform? It's obviously a joke.

Seriously though, the NDP is the way to go.

btw Troll King is a conservative. This is just dirty politics! Don't listen to him!! Hahaha B)

I'm not actually old enough to vote, I agree with the NDPs party platforms but.. seeing as how the big race is between the Liberals and the Conservatives, I think it would be more important to vote for the Liberals, just because Stephen Harper is evil, look at those damn eyes!!

I seriously would be surprised if TK was conservate.

Harper is more extreme then he wants to admit and pretty much would damage this country beyond repair. I don't think we'll see his true face unless he is elected PM. I know it's generally the conservate/religious right side being the doomsayers but with this party in power Canada would turn inside out 100 years economically and socially. Issues like the gay thing and the scandal will decide this election and it really shouldn't.

Ultimatly Canadians need to look at the real issues, the track record of each party and think about who they want to be as a country and how they want to be seen around the world and vote accordingly.

With the close race between the Liberals and the Conservatives it is more important to vote strategically. If you're Left leaning and your Liberal MP canidate is in a real race then vote for him, else I would personally vote NDP just because I think they have some good ideas and deserve to have a bigger say in Canada's future but I would never want them in complete control in Ottawa.

Man Spider I'm glad I'm not of age because the difference in percentage between Libs n NDP is slim in our area. Personally I'm a left wing, but the chances of an NDP constituency in Saskatchewan probably won't happen. Plus the ad they just showed on TV kinda made me feel sick it had to do with Christmas or some shit, fucking Christmas election.

Ok, for all the strategic voters out there I want to make something clear...

Just because the Liberals and Conservatives are tied at 30% (approx) nationally does not mean that is the case in the riding where you vote. The national vote does not matter at all. You vote for an MP in YOUR RIDING. If you want to vote strategically go to elections.ca and check who (Liberal or NDP) finished 2nd last time in your riding or count lawn signs.

                        EXAMPLE:
                        Saskatoon-Wanuskewin
                        Conservative 15109 votes
                        Liberal 10553 votes
                        NDP 5770

Liberals got almost 2 times the votes as NDP. Voting Liberal is maybe a good idea.

                        Saskatoon-Rosetown-Bigger
                        Conservative 11875 votes
                        NDP 9597 votes
                        Liberal 4171 votes

So, if you live in Saskatoon-Rosetown-Bigger obviously you should vote for the NDP.

Jeenyuss, in Saskatoon the ONLY riding where the Liberals will finish ahead of the NDP is probably Saskatoon-Wanuskewin, the North-West section of the city. Unless you live there, if you want to vote strategically, NDP is probably better. (Liberal candidate is Chris Axworthy in Saskatoon-Wanuskewin)

BTW - As a politically astute person, I can tell you right now the conservatives will not lose in Wanuskewin, meaning, you can go ahead and vote NDP anyway, because the lefties do not have a prayer there anyway.

                              Clarification

Epinephrine, about that christmas card that I wasn't going to send you this year. I'm TOTALLY not sending it now. BOOO HISSSSS

Seriously though, I'm not even sure I want the NDP for form government. I know they wont, so thats not what I am voting for when I cast my ballot. What I do want is to force them (Liberals) to move their policies a little more to left. Or, not even that, but to get them to actually do what they say they will. They are well known in Canadian politics for campaigning further to the left than they actually govern. When you vote for the Liberal Party you vote for Kyoto requirements which they don't actually meet, for public health care that they actually allow to be privatized, for child care that they have promised for 12 years and still not delivered, etc. If the NDP and Liberals both run on a promise to provide child care, and the Liberals need the NDP to prop them up, then maybe this time we will actually get that child care program.

Plus, you have to admit that the Gomery Inquiry proved that there is a serious need for more strict rules and accountability. The NDP released a good comprehensive plan for ethics and transparency in government. World famous elite politician Ed Broadbent wrote that shit up. He's totally elite.

I'm not saying the Liberal party is corrupt but a few individuals are. For this reason, clearly, we do need to take action to solve some of the problems identified in Gomerys report. This is another reason why it may be beneficial to election a Liberal minority with NDP backing. There would more likely be action on that front.

Also, it is likely we are going to have a Liberal minority outcome. I think it would be better for Canada if Liberal+NDP seats = 50% plus 1 in the house of commons for purpose of stability. The Bloc is so strong that it is actually the party with enough seats to prop up another. I don't think that is good for the country. We should elect a 3rd party to act as a king maker which is not commited to seperation.
