So, I am just wondering, who of you plays golf? And are you like a recreational golfer, so someone who doesn't care about what he plays with and just walks a round now and then, or do you like pay attention to what you play with and a bit more fanatic about it?

I play golf myself, and I play a fairly high level, I am mostly avg. between 75-80 nowdays, now and then I have my day and go below 75. Only scored under par once tho. I do pay attention to with what I play, but I also notice the difference in balls and clubs. But I do play mostly recreational, I hardly play tournaments just on my homeclub some matches and the clubchampionships. I have a friend who is a teachingpro and play alot with him on other courses.

I used to play recreationally at my local course Hillside GC, my grandad was a relatively famous Scottish golfer back in the day so I think its good genetics . I played at a fairly good level, played about par for the course, which is good, as Hillside is a Links course and the rough was seriously rough, I remember having to wade through chest high marram grass in the summer- absolutely dreadful. I played in a few competitions winning a bit of cash.

We have about 7 golf courses in Southport, most famous is the Royal Birkdale which is in Hillside where I live, hosted the open several years ago, and is set to host it in 2008 too.

Golf doesn't have to be exspensive at all.. I play Taylormade, and yes Taylormade is exspensive, but nowdays you can also chose to play with clubs from a really cheap brand and stuff.. the most exspensive thing would be the clubs and then it all depends where you are from. America and Canada have alot of cheap clubs, where everything is pretty cheap and it's easy to get in etc.

But if you are a true golfer, you'll have to pay big bucks to play on the really nice and fancy courses. Tho it's getting more and more affordable, the big courses, the nice courses, still like to make sure that whoever goes there to play, have a certain standard, and thus there is a certain pricetag. But golf can be done very low cost nowdays too.

Myself, I notice difference between balls and clubs I play with, so the stuff I have is kind of exspensive, and I choose to only play at the really nice clubs wich means it costs a bit more too (tho, because of my handicap and age, I have a 2 euro 50 card and I only have to pay 2 euro 50 for any club in the netherlands to play there). But when I was in Canada last summer, I played at the more exspensive clubs, but I gotta say, it's def. worth the money.

Galleleo is right, I used to play with Titleist tour blade irons. They were worth absolutely loads, my grandad won them and gave them to me as a gift. I remember people telling me they are the ones Tiger Woods plays with, they were apprently the hardest irons in the world to master. Anyway, one day my mate lent me his irons one day just to see if it would affect my play, and I found I was so much better, and it was much easier to play with his non-tour blade irons than my tour blades. I also noticed a massive improvement in my skill when I bought a Regal Mk2 putter.

Anyway- where I live there is one public course and they charge £10 per round which is absolutely extortionate when you compare it to the £2.50 a week I was paying to play at Hillside- which is an absolutely fantastic course with excellent facilities, and it is voted better than the Royal Birkdale which is a much more prestigious club with the amount of pro tournmanents held there- its just that Hillside GC don't have the space to host any professional tournaments.

FFs your non-american players are cheap, tiger woods ftw gg
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

please liquid keep it in your own thread.. America and Canada also have some of the nicest courses in the world.. they are just really exspensive or they are impossible to get on, ie. Augusta.

Taylormade makes clubs wich are really easy to play with nowdays, I play blades atm, the rac lt ones. And tho blades are harder then cavity or semi-blades, you do notice the advantage if you can play with them.

We have friends in England who play golf too, and we often go there and then play golf with him, we play in Essex then.

i play golf sometimes but i suck. my father gave me his old clubs, but he gets new clubs every few months and plays in local tournaments

but i can't bring myself to pay for golf balls when they just go into the water anyway. that's why i usually just go to the driving range
