The original one was one of my favorite movies 15 years ago. I didn't even know there was more than 1.

they made the other ones like ten years after the original. goes to mars is a trip, let me tell you.

Nice choices, Sam Raimi anything is great (except Spiderman) - I prefer Army of Darkness, however. Akira is probably the best anime movie ever (and also one of about 3 animes I've ever seen).

I watched Akira when I was in junior high ... very disturbing movie. I still hate it. Have you watched Princess Monoke, Spirited Away, or Howl's Moving Castle Gen? In my opinion there are better anime movies than Akira. At least Spirted Away and Princess Monoke are in my mind.
