I'm actually a pretty big fan of my Xbox, although I've owned a PS2 and really liked that as well (even though the optics failed after a year).

As far as "which one's better?" I dunno. Since I'm going to take this as a personal preference question, I'll say the Xbox.

Although I like the PS2 controllers better.

(Heh, "Future Shop." Can't help but laugh at that name.)

        xbox n00b

Conc what do you think the best Xbox games are for:

        Kids? (7-12)

        RPGs?

        Racing?

        Fighting?

        Music?

        Strategy?

Any info on any of the above would be greatly appreciated.

"Futureshop" isn't any funnier a name than "Best Buy" (Who now happens to own Futureshop, but that's another matter).

Technologically speaking, Xbox is easily the superior console, but as far as games are concerned, there haven't been as many Xbox titles that have garnered major recognition (good or bad). Halo being the main exception, few XBox games have been able to become established as yet, though the same could have been said when the PSX first came out. Right now though, it would be hard-pressed to say that the PS2 doesn't have a superior library of games of all the systems, though I found that the system has been under a bit of a dry spell recently if you don't count GTA:Vice City. Even the Gamecube, who seems to be the underdog in this industry, have released a string of their bigger names recently with Metroid Prime, Resident Evil Zero, Mario Sunshine and the upcoming Zelda.

Xbox's best games so far have been in my opinion racing games. Halo was arguably the best first-person shooter of the year while the Xbox also has a couple of good fighting games. PS2 has an edge in RPGs and some decent FPS games while the Gamecube has a lot of platforming-type action games. There are also games that are on more than one platform, but I'm glossing over those as you are probably more interested in the differences.

Oh yes it is, you silly canuck. "Futureshop" makes me think I should be able to buy some kind of matter-rearrangement gun there. "Best Buy" just makes me think I can get a good deal.

It's not a horrible name, it's just funny to me.

I don't play this genre, sorry.
                      RPGs?
Not a big fan of this genre either, sorry.
                      Racing?
I don't follow this genre much.
                      Fighting?
                      I loathe this genre.
                      Music?
What exactly would be an example of this type of game?
                      Strategy?
It's not really a true strategy game (I'm stretching the definition), but Splinter Cell is ridiculous.

Other than that, I've been playing a lot of Air Force Delta Storm. Gameplay's not much, but if you enjoyed After Burner (am I dating myself here?), you'll love this game. The graphics are kickass. The critics panned it, but I think they're high on crack.

I've also play a fair amount of MechAssault, which is awesome on Xbox Live, and a whole lot of other games that are available on other systems--FIFA 2K3, Max Payne, Tony Hawk, etc.

XBox is geared more toward the older gamer; Gamecube is more kid-friendly while PS2 provides a wider range.

If you want multiplayer games for kids, you might want to try sports games since those are good for all ages and Xbox has a lot of them

Tony Hawk 4 is a great game that should appeal to all ages and you can play it multiplayer against each other.

NHL2k3 and NFL2k3 are both excellent real sports games if they like football or hockey at all. I have NHL2k3, it's pretty good and easier to play 4 player than say a football game, I'm all about the 4 player games.

In other news Halo is one of the best multiplayer games ever. While 20 year old people love it, if I was a 12 year old kid I'd also love it.

Jet Set Radio Future is probably the best platformer kids style game available for Xbox, don't know if it's multiplayer at all though.

Rallisport challenge is probably the best driving game, but I don't play those games.

MechAssault is great fun, but then you need to get Xbox live to really do much with it.

So I'd say TH4, Halo, JSRF, or NHL2k3 or NFL2k3 are pretty all safe picks for kids.

Correct me if I'm wrong but based on your previous posts they already have a Gamecube right? I don't think they are deprived.
