Yes, there is some corruption in southern police forces. Yes, there is some corruption in northern, eastern, western police forces. Yes, there are some police who are racists.
Yes, fitting certain profiles will cause you to be pulled more frequently.

Driving a hot car aggresively will get you noticed. Driving a car filled with 18 y.o. will get you noticed. Driving a van with Florida plates, with two young Hispanics in it, along I85 heading north will get you noticed.

But if you are a guy driving normally in a sedan, with your family beside you, you won't be noticed.

Is there any possibility that these profiles or predispositions exist for a reason?

I have a beard and drive a black car. So if there is a rash of local bank robberies pull by guy with a beard and driving a black car, should I expect not to be noticed?

Funny that someone brought this up, I haven't felt the urge to post something in the forums in awhile. It really depends, just like there are backwoods hick villages all over the US, there are also those in the south. It appears that you probaly were driving through a hick town when you got pulled over. I live in a small town called Conroe about an hour north of Houston. And getting pulled over in each town is much different. Houston cops since it is a large culterally diverse city has alot more tolerance towards the strange then small town cops because they see it more often, or often grew up with it. Houston is probaly one of the most diverse cities in America and all around it are hick towns so, you can't really say Southern Cops are blah blah. Luckily for me I never had to worry about it either way being the clean cut kid that I am.

So basically, if you had gotten pulled over in a large city in Lousiana or Alabama then chances are the Mohawk would have gone unnoticed, but in the smaller towns it was probaly too extreme for the cops to handle.

Getting pulled over is a problem with all towns, cities and states.

Racial profiling is a prime means of how many cops pull people over.

NJ has been to court over these problems as well as many other muncipalities across the country. It doesn't matter if your in the South. I know that the Cops here where I work do it, as you can almost always make a bet that when you drive by the car pulled over, it's always a person of some ethnic minority getting the ticket.

WTF>... I lived in the ATL to, On peachtree street, right across from piedmont hospital for wayyyy to many years... Cops there are fuckin trash...
I drive a camaro over there, and cops like to pull over any loud car, I got a ticket cause my car was to loud, had a fine ass girl in the car, accusing me of escort services, etc...
All the cops I dealt with were black, I think they were jkust trying to start some shit...

Anyways, Shreveport cops are corrupt as fuck. In the past few months I've been running with the Russian kid who's dad gets me out of all my tickets. (This Russian kid travels with a few pistols in his car. He's seriously insane).

But Bossier, fuck. When you cross the Huey P. Long bridge, you slow your ass down and use your turn signals and check your mirrors, because the Bossier cops get paid alot more, and the high-ups tend to not punish the officers if they had to go an extra step to get compliance from someone they pulled over.

I was following my friend one night (for Jerome: it was Ahmad) at the time i was 15 years old, with my learners permit, and was driving by myself, well we pulled an illegal U-turn, looked behind me and saw the lights, i fucking freaked, they guy pulled ME over, got out and talked to me, all he wanted to know was if i was drunk, was a pretty nice guy, but then wanted to see my license, i showed him, he looks at it for like 5 seconds then says "How old are you?" Me - "16.." and he hands it back to me, no questions asked, i was so fucking nervous, i started the car and forgot to put it into drive and revved the engine.

Got pulled over once for speeding in Shreveport, all the guy did was tell me to slow down, then proceded to have a conversation with me. then left.

and once when i was 16, i was out with my brother (19 at the time) at like 3 in the morning, and we were at our friends house, and i was sitting outside as they went inside to look for some tools, well a cop pulls up, and begins to harass the fuck out of me, trying to book me for being out past curfew, the guy was a major dick, even to my brother, who was doing absolutely nothing wrong. i was technically not either, because i can be with my sibling who is older than 18 at any time.

And most recent, i got pulled over and the bitch wrote me a ticket for running a redlight.. which i didnt, but he couldnt see me, his view was blocked. it was just heavy traffic at a major intersection. the guy called for backup too. which was retarded. but i got that shit ticket reduced to a $25 seatbelt violation.

All this racial profiling talk or stereotypes makes me spin! I'm white and at least semicivilized looking, but yet I've gotten pulled over more times than any one I know. Mostly because we'd drive around smoking a bit more than we should, but others simply because they "thought I was someone else" or they suspected my CAR to be "reported missing".

I think being white is now the minority around here, but at least they haven't nailed me on anything yet over the 24 times they've flashed lights at me. I'm not counting the time I got pulled over by RCMP and got a 387.50 fine for speeding. Why? Because then I couldn't tell you about it seperately and that I didn't have to pay for it. :P

Yeah, I've noticed a trend with dick cops in Shreveport. They're always either super nice and let you off, or they go fucking nuclear corrupt and rail you.
