Visitor guide for the futuristic Odaiba district in Tokyo.
From these pictures and the description about the Rainbow Bridge, it seems so. But then again why haven't I ever heard of this? You think it would be mentioned more...
Whoa it seems like there's one in Paris too. It was on loan to Japan for a year and now they built a replica in Tokyo. The one in Paris is a replica of the original and much smaller... apperently donated by Americans in 1886 to mark the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution.

Actually at this point, America is probably more powerful than England was during the dawn of the 20th century (when the sun never set on the British Empire). There was an interesting article in The Economist a while back where they compared some figures.
In terms of military dominance, England spent only like 105% of the money France did and Germany did at the end of the 19th/beginning of 20th century. America currently spends more money then something like the next 20 countries combined in their military and is so overwhemingly powerful.
In terms of economics, the same picture arises. America's GDP is something like 2x the amount
of Japan, or roughly larger than the #2-4 countries in the world combined (Japan, Germany, China) and maybe even more than that.
In terms of culture, it's quite obvious that American culture is global. I remember reading a week ago about how Friends is actually the #1 TV show in Pakistan. And of course symbols like Coke and McDonalds (both culture and economics) dominate the world.
So from a social, economic and military standpoint, America is more powerful than England was. Heck even the Romans had the Chinese who were about on par with them (although since they never really knew eachother existed I guess it's okay.
The only think America doesn't have is something of an absolute power like former empires did. But then again, if former empires had a less more power America sort of has that now, even if the British theortically could kill as many subjects as they wanted in the colonies and no one would care. America has great power I'd argue as they own the economies of many countries, and those countries also buy into American culture and products like there's no tomorrow. Not to forget that diplomacy not withstanding, America can basically go anywhere it wants and no one can really stop them.
