I don't think we have to worry about it being a Beast Wars film; the teaser itself should put those worries to rest. Beast Wars was good, but it wasn't very well known. One thing that worked in its favour was that it was officially part of the Transformers continuity.

What we should worry about is the influence of the more recent anime-heavy "re-imaginings" of the TF canon. In those versions, the human characters had too great a role in the plot; one of those series had a cliched "moody teenaged boy with weird powers and a rebelious streak" character that actually attacked Decepticons head-on wielding a sword twice his size. It was like they ripped Cloud right out of Final Fantasy VII and placed him into the Transformers universe. Another even performed the sin of making Starscream a sympathetic character who joined the Autobots.

Well thanks Jersome for making me twitch. I had no idea that was even in production. They had better be using Optimus and Megatron and the orignal storyline, because otherwise it's going to suck and blow.
