  • Good Books:

i know some of you have to be well read, especially within the sci fi realm.

i know i've read every single star wars book ever published up until like 3 years ago, all of orson scott card, isac asimov, tolkien, etc.

but i've found myself rereading a bunch of shit recently that i read during my childhood. somebody give me some new stuff to read?

redwall (start off with redwall, then go on from there) series was good imo. (search author Brian Jacques, he wrote a couple of childrens books but every other book he wrote is about medieval, war especially. But having animals as portrayal of humans. He has 2 other books that has humans in it, called the flying dutchman and the angels commands which is about a young boy who is saved by an angel along with his dog and is granted everlasting youth and the ability to speak any language including the telepathic speach with his dog. He's suppose to wander and do good wherever he goes at the request of the angel.)

If your a fan of the blizzard games (diablo, WoW, etc) they have a large array of books that is played off those themes.

if you hadn't read the Lord of the rings books, you dont have to, but do read the hobbit. that is one awesome book. Don't know why they didnt make this book as a movie first. would of explained a lot of shit when the first movie came out.

David Sedaris - Me Talk Pretty One Day

Chuck Klosterman - Killing Yourself to Live

Christopher Moore - Lamb: The Gospel According to Christ's Childhood Pal

Those are the most recent books I've read. I'm about to start on Chuck Palahniuk's - Diary, a Novel.

"jpod" and "generation x" (the book that popularized the term) by douglas coupland

"cat's cradle", by vonnegut (imo better than slaughterhouse 5)

"house of leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski

                        he said sci fi, people.

The Vorkosigan series by Lois McMaster Bujold, I kinda like.

And if you're gonna do vonnegut and you want sci fi, Sirens of Titan.

It's not really Sci-Fi, but I just finished the K-Pax trilogy, and I enjoyed it.

War of the Worlds - HG Wells
                          Invisible Man - HG Wells

Both pretty good, although they're pretty short.

I thoroughly enjoyed 1984 by George Orwell too.

The 2001 series (2001, 2010, 2061, 3001) by Arthur C. Clarke were all enjoyable (the last book wasn't great, but I liked the other 3, and I do recommend reading all 4).

Watership Down is a good book, The Wheel of Time series isn't bad either and should keep you busy for awhile, Also if you liked the LoTR, you might also like The Silmarillion, it basically is like the bible, but done by Tolkien about middle earth.
