Hey, notice I wasn't trashing google. I love it, I use it as my Home page and I do 1+ google searches per day. I was referring to how much they're going to change youtube from its original form.

Well, partly due to the fact that when you have no competitor for a certain service you don't always have a real incentive to make that service too spectacular.

Alot, if not ALL of the services Google provides were around before they existed, they got to the top by competing with and outdoing competitors like Yahoo! and MSN.
But, if there is no competition; it's a monopoly...and monopolies suck ass.

The problem I have is with them becoming so fucking big and singular, this is just another step in that direction.

YouTube is really the first site of it's kind and now they are owned by one of the largest Internet companies around.
They are eating up anything and everything they possibly can, or anything that gets in the way.
You don't find that just a little bit unnerving?

I was thinking more of a Wal-Mart personal shopper that will follow you around the store showing you where everything is, even shit you don't want.

Gmail: The best email service: free, more storage than you could ever use and with quality features and a simple yet efficient interface.

Google earth: 3D map of the earth, gg. Faster and more reliable than map quest, and even comes in a web browser form accesible to all those who have dialup or computers that can't handle it.

Denied Government access when they wanted to go snooping through search statistics... FUCKING STOOD UP FOR YOU IN COURT GG.

Google video is better in quility and everything but they've stripped the community aspect from their own service and are too quick to react to RIAA/MPAA requests eliminating much home-edited material. I love Google products but they see this service only as another medium for big business created content and nothing more.
