  • Game soundtracks

Hey, just wondering what games do you think deserve to be noted for their brilliant soundtracks. As far as I can tell this would fall into 2 categories: Games mith their own musc and games that use music not written specifically for the game.

For the first category I think Total Annihilation definitely deserves some credit, the soundtrack really is very good. Of course Halo also gets a mention.

For the second category, I have to say Burnout Revenge. This game, not only being an awesome game anyway (completed it to 100% the other day!) the soundtrack is just so fitting for the pace of the game.

So yeah, time for your views!

The only game soundtracks I have are Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3, and so naturally they're my favorite. The fact I haven't owned a console since I played those on the SNES kind of simplifies things.

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

                  Biased? Me?

                  Penguin Adventure
                  Dungeon Door

even though I am clearly biased, those do both have noteworthy music. Penguin Adventure had simply spectacular music. The music in Dungeon Door wasn't obviously great, but it if you know how its made, its really cool. In the game, your party on any level is four characters random selected from a pool of six. So the game's music was one song with six voices, where, if you cut out any two voices it would sound like a very different song. Then, the game would select the voices to match your party. I think that kind of dynamic music is pretty awesome, especially for a student game.

Did you see those Baftas for video games last night?

It was bloody crap. About 10 games nominated over like 5 categories.
