the meaning of your life depends on what you believe happens after you die
Personally I dont know what will happen after I die and I have no beliefs on what it could be, so the meaning of my life is to enjoy it and do what I want to do while trying help those I care about enjoy theirs. And possibly leave some type of enjoyment in this world for those that come after me.
The way our world is right now, an enjoyable future does not seem like an easy possibily for us humans.
Here's what I Wrote on an essay i wrote for my philosophy class on what the meaning of life is. DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME IF IT'S CORNY! IT WAS AN ESSAY FOR MY PHILOSOPHY CLASS! =PP
The meaning of life differs from person to person due to their philosophy and way of their life. Personally, the question would have to be phrased as, “What is the meaning of my life?” Trying to not make this complicating is very… complicating. I have more than one view on life in some odd reason of mine. But ultimately, there is one reason of mine that conquers the rest.
The first meaning of life for me doesn’t really affect me and it relates to me in no way whatsoever, but it makes sense to me. Survival is the meaning of life- survival and continuation. The thought of living forever is what everyone wants. By this, we have children. Before that, though, we try to make a good life out of ours (or mine) so that our children in the future would have a good life and we wouldn’t have to work and sweat as much as we would probably have. So in the end, even if I die; even if I’m not invincible and can’t live forever, we pass on our genes and hope at least a piece of myself would go on.
Another view of life, for me, is the thought of just having fun and living one’s life to the extreme fullest. Go out as much as possible- live life on the edge. Whenever I can, go out and make an ass of myself one day, then do something else just as idiotic and useless just to see what the outcome would spring from it the next day. Get a good job, (which isn’t as exciting as jumping out of a plane or climbing a mountain) then use the money earned from that job to jump out of a plane or climb a mountain or both! The philosophy behind it is that you only have one life, so make it worth your time on earth before you get to the part in which you just sleep forever, unless you’re Buddhist or something.
The finalized and ultimate philosophy on the meaning of my life is simpler than you think. The meaning of my life is to just… exist. Knowing that there were millions of other sperm cells in that whole batch fighting over that one egg, it’s mind boggling that I am the one that came to be. So just living is all that matters to me. Life is just to be born, to live that life, sprout children, and die. Everything else I do in between is just to fill in the huge gaps. Dying old and poor doesn’t matter to me, as long as I live my life and the years leading to that age was worth it. In fact, anything that happens in this life is worth it, good or bad. Even if I was to be tortured and left on the streets to die. Even if I was paralyzed from the neck down and went blind and deaf all at the same time, I would look on my life and think to myself, “At least I was other than never being.”
Corny, indeed. But, everyone bullshits their way through opinion essays to appease the grader. (unless of course you actually have a strong feeling towards the topic, even then you may go against your own opinion to appease the grader)
Anyway, I don't think there is a "meaning of life." You live because two gamets met and made you, just like every other sexual-reproducting organism. We (humans) may be more developed than animals, so we can think more or whatever, but we're still animals that live... because our parents had sex.

The meaning of life is self-fulfillment. Plain and simple. Every living organism is alive because it is trying to advance itself in some way, whether it knows it or not. A person may try to increase their material wealth, another may try to be creative through art... still others might write great novels and books and whatnot, and still others might just get high every day and say they are fulfilled. It's all in what rocks your boat. -=nt=-

What is the meaning of life? To be.
That is pretty crappy. If you spent actual time on that I'd be surprised. A formal essay shouldnt contain "Me", "I", or "You". Language is simple, idiom usage = bad.
Grade: D
The individual, a prisoner. Humanity holding the key to the opression. Everyone a prisoner, holding a portion of the whole truth. And so the enigma perpetuates. Insentient, lifeless. Grinning mockingly at its creators through its cold, inanimate lips.

The Meaning of Life was a pretty good Monty Python movie. Not as good as Quest for the Holy Grail or Life of Brian though...
I have stopped swimming in the rock pools a few days ago. Now instead of 40 minutes swimming, I substitute it with 40 minutes power walk - usually on the beaches or around the cliffs. Nothing beats burning the fat in the cold wind. Colon minus pee.

eh... that was apart of my Final Essay and I did that in one night (the night before it was due) =P
This has honestly got to be a very easy question to answer.
First, break down the two main beliefs that people today have:
Religious people, they believe in an after life, the quality of the after life depends on the quality of the life you lead in the present life.
Athiestic people, they generally believe that we're organisms, animals...there is an end to all things.
The answers:
For religious people, the meaning of life is to live to the best you possibly can, treat others and yourself right so that your after life will be pleasing.
For athiestic people, since we are basically animals, the meaning of life is to grow up, live as long as we can, so that we can have many children, and multiply the earth. We try to achieve long life so we can help our children grow until we are not needed anymore. We strive for nothing but survival of the species...like any other animal.

And plus... i already turned in that Essay before I started this topic... CAN WE GET BACK TO THE SUBJECT BY THE WAY? TRYING TO HAVE A NICE DISCUSSION WITH YOU GUYS AND YOU GUYS TURN IT AROUND AND ACT LIKE SMART ASSES. =((
Okay I've had this discussion with Randedl and my class as well a couple days back. (I TURNED IN THIS ESSAY AS WELL SO SHADDAP ABOUT THAT! =P)
