  • Philosophical Opinion?

It was said somewhere that God created the world in 7 days (or somewhere around there). But since there was no world in the first place, how can that creation be measured in 7 days? Days (24 hours) is one full rotation of the earth, but there being no earth, how could this be? How long is that 7 days, really?

Genisis 1:1 "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 1:2 Now the earth was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters"

The very first thing in the bible. (besides the table of contents and what not)

There were indeed 7 days, but different things were created.

1.God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
2.God said, "Let there be an expanse in the middle of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters."
3.God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear;" and it was so.
4.God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years
    5. God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth in the open expanse of sky."
6.God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creatures after their kind, livestock, creeping things, and animals of the earth after their kind;" and it was so.
7.God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the livestock, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

I'm not sure where it's written, but 1 Heavenly day is 1,000 years on Earth. So technically the Earth was created in 6,000 years, nothing was done on the 7th.

If you're well educated on LDS Theology, I could go deeper as to where materials came from and what not, if not...then there's a lot of explaining to do.
      Ну вот...

actually i read a book on it and have this somewhre in my room. This guy who translated the original biblical text says that the word used actually stand for a time period, but of one with no defined length.

            my pov?
would take to long tonight. if you really want it i will put it up.

This is one of the counter arguments against science. If scientists say that the Earth is millions of years old, the bible could be interpretted to say that that time it took to form was "7 days," more like a metaphor than an actual timed account.
                I'd rather be SubSpacing.

Well.... you'd assume it meant "a period of time equivalent to 7 of our days" but...

Who knows that god created the earth in 7 days? Did he tell them or something?

btw... God doesn't exist,. don't waste your time.
