Am I the only one who eats like 1000 calories a day?

It's not intentional, I'm just always at work or school and am never hungry.

carbs are good for you. people who think carbs are bad are retarded.

eating lots and lots of fatty foods (ie atkins diet) will make you die of a heart attack.

People eat too much then go oh look im fat it must be the foods fault. No you fat retarded fuckers its cos you eat too much.

If you want to lose weight follow doc flabbys patented diet.

      1. eat 3 proper meals a day.
      2. eat as much as you want during these 3 meals.
      3. However rest of the time you cannot eat. no snacks. that means no crisps, no cholate no cola, you eat nothing except at breakfast, lunch and dinner.
      4. eat bulky food such as pasta, rice, potatoes this food will fill you up meaning you eat less as you dont feel hungry.
      5. do not eat any sugery food or drinks. only drink water, or coffee/tea with no suger. That also means no puddings, no cake. If you feel the urge for suger eat some fruit.

And there it is my 5 step plan give it a year or two and you will no longer be fat. People get fat because they snack on shit. If you cut out the snacking and srtick to 3 regular meals you will lose weight.

I'm no expert but I know you're not entirely correct - one of the most common reasons for overweight is that people don't eat often enough and eat too much on a few meals

I prefer smaller meals: 4-6 meals + snacks
however you don't have to eat lots of carbs on ALL of them try not to neglect carbs but don't overdo them either :P try eat twice as much carb as you eat prot - a lot depends on your daily routines and energy consumption though but I do know I get huge if I overdo carbs

eat more carb on mornings and less on evenings

the more often you eat the more energy your body is willing to let walk away and there is definedly nothing wrong with a snack between each meal if you don't overdo them and they're something like vegetables or a tin of tuna etc... just keep avoiding sugar and white bread and stuff like that for they boost your insulin levels a lot

avoiding all fat is stupid too... just switch to vegetable fats

it doesnt matter whether you eat 1 meal or 26 in a day. caloric intake does.

what does matter is try not to eat too soon before sleeping, it gives your body less of a chance to have at the usable calories before storing them for later use (fatty mc fatfat).

the peopel who eat 2 or 3 meals a day, fine. the ones that eat 4 to 6. all good. doesnt make any difference to your body either way.

im on a horrible tear of eating out at the moment, but im left with no choice... ive been without power for almost a week now.

These two are pretty stupid. You shouldn't eat as much as you want during a meal. If you completely gorge yourserf 3 times a day, you aren't going to be losing weight.

Also, although carbohydrates are our main source of energy, they should still be minimised (Not avoided) by anyone wanting to lose weight.

If you're going to be following Flabby's ideas, then you might end up having 3 plates FULL of pasta over the course of the day. This is not healthy from a weight loss point of view, this is carbohydrate overload. And this definitely isn't a good diet for balance. There would be little protein, little fat, no vitamins etc etc.

A relatively healthy day would be something like:

              Breakfast:

Porridge is good, it fills you up and isn't too bad. Try putting a little honey and/or raisins in it.
If this doesn't take your fancy, a couple of slices of toast with a bit of jam (Americans read: Jelly) or a bit of honey.
Have with it a glass of fruit juice, not too large though, they are VERY sugary.

              Lunch:

A sandwich is fine, as long as you don't go packing it with lots of cheese or other fatty things like mayo. Try to avoid a sandwich though if you had toast for breakfast, you don't want too much bread.
If you don't want a sandwich, ryvita is a good replacement, you have less of it than bread because it is smaller and it is very high in fibre so does a good job of cleaning you out. Put on it something like cheese and branston, or a bit of ham.
Try to have a piece of fruit with your lunch too.
Try to drink water, squash or some milk with your lunch.

              Dinner:
Could be some sort of meat, preferably grillied or oven cooked. (Red or white is fine, as long as in the long term you vary, maybe having slightly more white than red). A moderate portion of a starchy food, whether this be some pasta, a few boiled potatoes, mash, maybe some rice (You can even have fries every now and again). A bit of salad too, just some leaves, tomatoes and whatever takes your fancy. Salad dressing is fine as long as you don't over do it. If you're still a little hungry a bit of fruit afterwards is ok.
If you want some sort of dessert, yoghurt is normally a good choice. You can have cake if you want, just try to keep to something like fruit cake, not some big sticky chocolate cake, don't have a big slice, and only once or twice a week.
Like Lunch, water, squash or milk is fine. You could have some sort of fizzy drink if you want, either limit yourself to one or two per week or drink diet. A glass of wine or a bottle of beer is fine too.

As far as snacking goes, it's generally not a great idea. If you're hungry try drinking some water. If you're still hungry and really can't wait until dinner, then carrot sticks are a very good snack. You can eat a lot of these (Try not to have much/any dip). Fruit's ok too. If you end up having chips/crisps or a cookie or something, don't go killing yourself, it's good (psychologically) to have something unhealthy sometimes, just make sure it's a very rare occurrence .

Also, if you're a student, try to eat less. A lot of people who are trying to lose weight as a student watch their food and everything, but forget that there is no point if you're going out drinking 4 times a week. Most alcoholic drinks are very high in calories. Either cut down your drinking or cut down your eating even more to compensate (Although it's doubtful to cut it down to as much as what it would be with no alcohol). Just keep this in consideration.

              Hope this is helpful.

Now... if only I could keep to this.

EDIT: And just for a bonus, here is me first year and third year of university.

it does... take too much on 1 meal and your body will start storing the extras

keep some small digestion going on for the most of the day and your body won't stockpile that much :P

also eating more and smaller meals starts shrinking your stomach making you eat less... you get hungry more often but get satisfied with less food

and if you have a bit of protein being broken down to aminos for most of the time you get the full benefits for sports/training etc

eeks is right, if you want to lose weight, its better to eat like 6-8 times a day, but much smaller portions of food.

part of what he said was right

its all about your intake and the time you leave yourself to burn it off after eating/digesting

i like my largest meals of the day to be breakfast/lunch and then a smallish dinner. you can eat larger meals but remember that it will take longer to digest and burn those calories... the number of meals per day doesnt matter, it just splits it up more. you can shove all your food into 2 meals a day and still lose weight.

when training for a sport its a completely different ballpark altogether.
like i said, when i used to swim, id eat 5 or 6 thousand calories a day and not gain a pound. usually through 2-3 large meals and 3 or 4 smaller ones. before morning practice eat something small such as a piece of fruit, granola bar, and some yougurt. then a big eggs, bacon, and pancake type breakfast after that. rest of the day would continue in that kidna thing, keep my energy up at all times and have the peak during practices... then on nights before a meet carb-load and eat lots of pastas and such.

after i blew my shoudlers i ate less but still kept eating more than what i could burn boo. ah well live and learn, im back on the downslide again though, go me.

now i eat when i have time. the real world sucks

There is a difference between eating many small meals in a day compared with eating a few big meals in a day. If you constantly eat large meals it will distend your stomach, which is bad because the distention of the stomach indicates "fullness" to the body. So by eating large meals you will eventually consume excess calories because it will take more food to extend your stomach.

If you eat small meals every 2-3 hours your blood sugar is at a constant healthy level all day long and nutritients get stored . If you eat once a day you get a huge energy spike and most of the nutritients get thrown away (for example onto your hips) because your system can't process so much stuff at one time.
