Well I'm meant to be doing work at the moment, so I decided to post a topical thread!
The art of procrastination is a fine art, finding ways to waste time just so you don't have to do work that you really should be doing. I'd like to think of myself as having nearly perfected the art of procrastination. I've always been known to be terrible at meeting deadlines for work, but previously I would just waste time by watching TV or playing Continuum. Recently I've been finding myself find more and imaginative ways of putting off work that really has to be done.
Some of my gems in the last year or so include:
Cleaning the entire kitchen, that is all the washing up, all the surfaces etc.
Attempting to write a short story (I even posted the beginning of that on these forums)
Going to bed at 7pm just so I didn't have to do maths coursework.
Today I've been "working" on a progress report (3000ish words) of my dissertation. This progress report should be based on work/research done in the last 2 months along with the plans for the rest of it. Well firstly I'd done no research until two days ago but that isn't the point here. Today I've found myself going in to uni, doing a little bit of work, looking up pictures of my father on google (no reason really, and yes I found some!), showing my friend tho pokemon website I made when I was 13, using the =rand(100,100) command together with creative spacing to look like a word document was torn in half diagonally. I then went home. Instead of doing work then I had a "nap" before dinner. This nap entailed tooking at porn for a bit and then constantly phoning the post office for 10 minutes to try to get them to re-deliver something (they never answer!). Eventually I just got the busy tone and it stayed that way for the next 2 hours so I think they took it off the hook. I finally went downstairs and made my dinner. I ate it and just sat on the sofa for about 20 minutes doing nothing (No TV anything). I then had a chat with my housemate for a bit about random shit and finally started doing work at 9pm. After about half an hour of work I got bored so I went to tescos and bought some coffee and some chocolate. I was going to just eat it but in the end I made it into a cake, chocolate cornflake cake woo! It's cooling in the fridge now. Well I then did a little bit more work then thought I'd procrastinate one little bit more by posting here!
So anyway, good job to you if you actually managed to read through that without dying of boredom, I now challenge you to show off your procrastination skills!
It's now 11.55am and I am about to continue working!
NOTE: I'm up on coffee and cola, so imagine the large paragraph to be a constant stream of speech from a slightly hyper individual for the full effect!
