At what point would you super-relgious types admit that you're wrong?

My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

LB, whenever there's a death in the church it is often welcomed with a celebration. I can see their logic but it always makes me second question my faith or rather, the Christian faith as a whole.
To the few who speak of child religion, I was forced to go to a Church of England primary school where Jesus is taught as a fact and I blindly accepted it. However, when I left that school I quickly became an atheist.
Blue, most of my beliefs have arisen through logical thought because I'm a very critical thinker, I cannot 100% blindly believe like some. The soul is not a physical substance, therefore it cannot partake in physical things i.e. eating, seeing, hearing, touching, etc. Because of this, heaven is unimaginable. As for the book of Revelation, John says in the begining that it was a dream. Jesus does say to trust the Bible as the word of God, however, heaven is unimaginable and indescribable, the book of revalation is simply a book of metaphors, trying desperatly to attempt to explain the unexplainable to our feeble human minds.
Noah, I too believe in the big bang theory and evolution but through God. After all, the big bang isn't really a beginning as such as there has to be a cause for that.

me being a Christian gives me a certain view of what heaven and hell are like, but I have a different view than most people, and a much more logical one at that.
The difference between heaven and hell isnt pearly gates of gold or a river of fire. The whole river of fire thing is used for satan and the fallen angels to sit in... which if you really wanna know what my thought about it is, they just go to the core of the earth, the molten part ya know? spiritually speaking thats where they are, the big black hole into the center of the earth.
But as for us, hell is when you don't get saved or believe in God. You spend your eternity as you did in life, cut off from God. Its like a big rift where you can see everyone else who believed, and you realize there is a God, but you are now cut off from it for eternity. That is hell, knowing you were wrong.
heaven is just walking with God as you know him with the joy of knowing you were right. theres other stuff too but this is the basic theory. People in hell arnt burning in flames all the time, they are just spending their time away from God, which sucks if you realize that you were wrong and can't change it.
Edit: as for the big bang theory, it is true. Evolution isnt, but the big bang theory is entirely true. But the point is something was created out of nothing, a spark of gasses which mathamatically seems so unnatural and nearly impossible somehow expanded and created the entire galaxy. Scientists realize how unimaginably small the probability of what happened was, and all it does it point to a fact that something was willing it to happen, ie God.Last edited by Exalt; 01-10-2007, 12:09 PM.RaCka> imagine standing out as a retard on subspace

I know it is reality to you, but to most of us you are the one living in a fantasy and not reality. So to tell us you are not living in a fantasy is just complete bs.Maybe God was the first suicide bomber and the Big Bang was his moment of Glory.

And, Improbability hardly is proof or a "fact" that god exists. Your religion has as much credibility as the flying spaghetti monster. Even less, actually:
You can clearly see the relation to global temperature and the number of pirates, proof that the flying spaghetti monster exists.f

1/2 of it is because no one knows what happens when you die, so we need something to cling onto
1/2 of it is to create a moral code which binds people who might not otherwise live by a certain code. This is to ensure society can function smoothly.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:

As well, your avatar is probably one of the biggest proofs for Creation, since Noah's Ark really existed.
He shouldn't have to prove the Big Bang to you. Why don't you look into Hubble's law, cosmic microwave background radiation, and anisotropies and make your own fucking decision (read: think for yourself) instead of regurgitating shit you were introduced to when you were younger.

It would take a lot for me to completely renounce my religion, although I am a lot less religious now than I used to be.
I might not be the perfect model Christian, but I do try to uphold the main teachings of the Bible. I try to be a good person and love everybody. I'm still going to wait for marriage. Sure, I might be going out and getting drunk every now and then, but I'm not letting that get in way of the big picture the Bible is teaching.
