Closing 'not family-friendly' Threads

I think there's a difference between discussing trannies and something that naive people (underage) wouldn't see. For example, I was in a card shop with a 12 year old girl friend (as in, friend who's a girl, not a girlfriend) and some others (wasn't just me and her... i'm not a peado) and we came across a box of bteddy bears being sold as various types of beavers. You had brazilian beaver, shaved beaver, etc, the girl thought they were cute but were completly oblivious to it's true meaning yet I saw it as rude.

I hope this somehow explains it, i'm not great at getting my point across.

First off there have been a few suggestions regarding changing the forum titles and sub tags that DG still hasn't gotten around to, so it's not a fair comparison considering Face probably can't edit that.

Secondly I can understand why he edited the second post of mine, because it has more than a little risky stuff in regards to the guy getting hot and heavy with "Paula". He's trying to do his job, and I think it's a good start as he didn't leave me in the cold and just close my shit.

Second, why are people taking this as an attack on Face? I simply asked a legimate question and tried to make sure my post was 'light' by phasing it "I am just curious". The question was just that, how is 'family content' judged? DG refers to "perceived spirit of the forums" (in the Forum Rules thread) yet this does not appear to be defined anywhere.

Third, I had no idea what the content was of the Mile High' thread since I did not see it. Is it too much to ask a question about it's content and how it might have been less 'family' than men's balls?

I didn't take it as an attack on Face, I was simply trying to give you my opinion on the subject. It's understandable since you didn't get to see the thread, it was about a guy who met a spanish girl on a flight, ended up in the airplanes bathroom with her, and finds out it's a guy. It was "family friendly" up until the second post where it went into detail about the two and their "heavy petting" and about how he found "Paula's" willy-woo.

There's a lot more fucked up stuff written on the forums; I'm not sure why that thread was closed. Not flaming Face here just questioning the Christian rules we have to abide by.

And about that family-friendly, who cares if we're family-friendly? The only ones younger than 15 on these forums are the most racist and annoying people anyway. It's not like their moms are going to be concerned with a spaceship forum rather than porn.

I shouldn't have closed the thread, in order to allow you guys to discuss why I deleted the content, sorry about that. Still, I just don't think this is the place for funny sex stories described in quite that much detail. If the story had ended with "and Paula was a DUDE" it would have been fine, but it had a couple sentences in there that could have easily been in a porn story. If this WAS a place where you could discuss stuff like that, I'd be fine with it, but it isn't, and there are plenty of other places where stuff like that can be found so I don't think it's a huge loss to the community or anything.

Of course, if this was a forum member telling their OWN story, I would have just deleted the sentences that described genitals, and left the rest of the stuff in there. What it was, though, was basically a recycled humor post that was put in general discussion. Moving it to recycled humor would have been saying that I saw the thread and thought it was appropriate, and, well, I just didn't think it was appropriate. Perhaps "more fucked up" stuff has been described on these forums, although I think it's a rarity, Gen, but if that's the case, I'm sure that stuff had better context than "hey guys I saw a funny story that may or may not be true on some other forum." It was an amusing story, of course, but still.

There's a big difference between a silly pun about balls and what happened in that airplane bathroom, to answer the initial question.

It was a wise move to delete it, just because someone may be a grown adult, and is mature enough to handle the content, that doesn't mean that person would want to see the content. You can't simply say, "well you chose to look" because you don't know what the thread is really about until you start reading it, and the same can be said about viewing a picture, because in order to know something is inappropriate and you'd not want to view it, you have to see it in the first place. Just because you are 17 years old, that doesn't mean you want to see everything that goes in in a rated R movie. You have to create some sort of standard, otherwise the power of sin is magnified.
