When you're getting a crap job, unless you have 6 months experience (minimum) in the field, they're not often gonna pay you more than their standard starting wage.
Just put "starting" when they ask for desired wage. Unless it's a small, one store business, they have corporate guidelines to go by when setting new employee pay rates, and putting more or less will just make you look inexperienced in applying for jobs.
