Obviously that guy just got done sewing his suit with that sewing machine. This sewing of the suit took place in the middle of the side walk, right where that picture is taken, in his underwear. The UPS driver got so distracted by a guy in his underwear wielding a sewing machine that he made a 180 on the road. In panic and fear, with a scarred retinal because of what he witnessed, he tried to correct this action. But he accidentally put it in reverse, so as he hit the gas, he drove straight backwards, over the side walk, barely missing the sewing machine, and into the fence. The boy being overjoyed with both the finished suit and the UPS van missing his beloved sewing machine then quickly got his camera out and asked a bystander to photograph him holding his, still in one piece, sewing machine with the UPS drama as background.

That guy was at a fancy ball and saw the truck crash, he immediatley sprinted over to scavenge it and to his obvious delight found a sewing machine. (don't know what it is, guessing sewing machine?)
