Have them go week to week doing missions or some BS. I dunno.
I'm not sure that, that would be entirely all that possible... and you'll understand why when you see the series finale.

    Spoilers:

Although, there is some ambiguity about Vorenus' death. It could be possible that he didn't die and that Pullo was lying to Octavian, but all signs pointed to it being true (the spear in his back & the scene w/ Vorenus on his death bed are two signs).

Great show ... and yeah ... the ending felt rushed.

Maybe check out The Wire to get your HBO fix?

Oh, I saw the ending. I'm saying if he lied to Octavian, you can then make the spinoff in the "present". If not, you can do it in the past. There was a 3 year or so gap between a couple episodes.

Better question is, when will he finally publish the book with the characters I care about

Great writing but I hated reading the last book, I could give a shit about those Lannisters =(
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

              people actually watch this..?

maybe it's because i study history, but i simply can't stand series like this (at most i watch a few episodes to criticize them).. on one hand the creators find it very important to be accurate on names, costumes etc, but on the other hand do they not care one bit about how the Roman times were actually like (which is even for historians something very difficult to find out, reanactment is quite impossible).. the amount of historical inaccuracies are quite incredible and series/movies like this are nothing but modern characters / behavior placed in an ancient background..

              bleh...

The only problem I see with a prequel about Titus and Vorenus is that the awesome dynamic that they had together in the series wouldn't really be possible. This is because it wasn't until the first season that they were connected together and became friends. Nonetheless, it would still be interesting to see their perspectives before this.

There is a new show called "The Tudors" that looks like it might be a good filler for those who miss Rome. It airs on Showtime and is about King Henry VIII. I don't have that channel, but plan on downloading the episodes soon.

I've heard The Wire is really good, I've also heard that it's outrageously offensive. I might download the first season and work my way through it.

I read that The Tutors is like the Desparate Housewives in Ye Olde England. I then watched about 10 minutes of the first episode and I must agree. Definitely not filling my Rome void. I'm off to go watch Gladiator again or something.

That's a bummer. Even though I already know that I'm no fan of Desperate Housewives... I'm still gonna check out the first episode of "The Tudors" to see what I think.

Offensive to whom? You absolutely have to at least give The Wire a try, I have a really low tolerance for dramas and I find that show riveting. Each season starts a little slow so I'd give it a 3-4 episode investment before you give up. I was hooked after the first episode, but that's just me. I know Gen watched one or two episodes, decided it was a boring version of Law and Order, and gave up, but Gen is a cynical Plebian anyway.

Then again, you might not relate to it as well living in Canada, part of why it appeals to me is that it really humanizes the people that I'm afraid of the three or four times a year I accidentally end up in a "bad" neighborhood. I don't know how bad the neighborhoods really get up there. I always thought of crack and heroin dealers as bad people because crack and heroin are bad but the show does a good job of really making the drug dealer (and even some of the hit man) characters very sympathetic. It provided me with perspective I didn't previously have on how fucking stupid the drug war is, and how even the criminals to a large degree are just victims of the system. Also, from what I've seen of Rome, the dialogue on The Wire just blows it out of the water. Fucking great show.

The Wire is the best show on tv, no doubt. Its fucking amazing. Seasons 1 and 3 were fucking marvelous, Season 2 disappointing (all that docks shit sucked), Season 4 was ok until the last half which got great again(too much kids and political stuff), and judging from the last episode of Season 4, Season 5 is gonna go back to greatness with McNulty hellbent on getting Marlo. I was really pissed they killed off Bodie, and I was pissed when they killed his character on Oz too. The characters on that show are just great. I mean what other show can you find a character like Omar or Chris and Snoop? Even the cops on this show are portrayed way way better than every other show.

And as far as HBO canceling entertaining shows, they did it last year too, canceling Deadwood after its second season because they don't have the money to keep it going, the same happened with Rome.
