I also dropped the mean-spirited posts in here, who knows, maybe it'll somehow improve Scoop and Jeansi's karma.

so you are against the legalizing cocaine because it wastes people? interesting, considereing there just died 30 kids to guns. what would the logical consequence be?
i have been to the military too, and i have been taught how to use a gun. would i ever consider getting a gun for myself or going to a shooting range for fun? noone i know would. and thats the difference you seek, not the size of the country, or the govermant, just the people. every single one of the who does not own a gun.

i shoot sometimes
and i know alot of epople that do it very regularly
i dont see anything wrong with going to a shooting range and putting holes in a paper target
i agree that the small arms thing should be regulated more. i have shot full auto weapons too. if i see someone carrying around an automatic rifle, im gonna run the fuck the other way. fortunately, you cant easily hide an ak47 in your pants until you need it.
i dont knwo what im talking abotu atm, maybe i will coem back latler and edit

KENNESAW, Georgia (Reuters) - The Virginia Tech killings have set off calls for tighter U.S. gun laws but anyone wanting to know why those demands likely will make little headway should visit Kennesaw, a town where owning a gun is both popular and mandatory.
The town north of Atlanta had little prominence until it passed a gun ordinance in 1982 that required all heads of a household to own a firearm and ammunition.violence> dont talk 2 me until u got 900+fbook friends and can take 1 dribble from the 3 point line n dunk

The time to talk about gun control is not when it's an emotional debate.
The same way that it wasn't time to make and pass patriot acts after 9/11.
Insane people will find ways of doing Insane things. Whether if it's with a gun, a hatchet, a knife, or a car, it will happen. That's the horrible truth of life kids. And all the idealism on either side of the fence you want to sit yourself on, won't get you anything different.
Gun Control or bans should be the furthest thing from our minds. It's relaxed focus. What we should be concerned with, how the fuck did one guy, that so many people saw as troubled, screwed up, and explosive, continue to run around ticking down his own personal timebomb.

I see where you're coming from with the whole "crazy people will do crazy things no matter what laws are in effect" argument, but if guns were less accessable, then we wouldn't have 33 people dead in a day. There is a clear connection between the readiness of firearms in this country and the ridiculous murder rate. Here in the United States, we kill more people with firearms than most of the other developed nations combined. These other nations have crazy people too, so why aren't there tens of thousands of shootings in Japan? Or Canada? Or even in Britain? Something needs to be done in this country in regards to gun violence, and this event is simply further evidence.
I agree, now is not the time to make irrationally passionate laws, but at the same time with the recent rise in school shootings, and the ridiculously high murder rate, there needs to be provisions to our current laws. This was just the final straw.Originally posted by ToneWomen who smoke cigarettes are sexy, not repulsive. It depends on the number smoked. less is better

First of all, in reference to the above topic.
Guns should be made illigal. It has one single purpose. There shouldn't be a twist around it such as "people will find another way of doing it". Bullshit. Let them find a way around it then. Guns shouldn't be made, period. Self defence? Get the fuck out of here! For the sport? Then goto a designated sport area where you can borrow a gun, and give it back before you leave the building.
Second. How to prevent it? Don't fucking put it all over CNN 24/7. Interviews, theories, victoms, heros, blame video games, etc, etc. This guy clearly send material to CNN to become world wide news. His moment of fame. The next person will try and go over 33 people and will have several tapes, probably put a webcam on his head to broadcast "his moment". Otherwise he is just a maniac. Not the. Our problem with wanting to know every single detail of everything.
He killed alot of people. We can all understand how terrible the family feels, no need to interview them. No need to 'get into his mind'. It should not be interesting or be glorified.

The problems that face many states with criminal acts tied to gun crimes, is that each state has varied laws for purchasing guns. In states such as Wyoming, North Dakota, Montana and many other states, the gun laws serve more to those that are hunters, as these owners hunt for food as well as sport. To the laws that pertain to cities such as NYC, Philadelphia, Wash. D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago and many other urban metropolis', the purchasing of a gun is more or less for protection for store owners and home protection.
To make guns illegal at this time we live in would allow the criminal element the upper hand. How many gun crimes on average are committed by registered legal gun owners? Lets leave out the VT gunman.
What is the larger of the gun owner problems is those that own guns illegally and not those that have gone through proper channels to own a gun.
Why assault rifles and automatics are necessary are still puzzling to me.
One could debate this issue for years. Hunters will always want a gun for different reasons, as will store owners and home owners looking for protection from those that own guns illegally.
Perhaps if the police in some cities walked a beat, rather than sit in a car all day never knowingthe neighborhoods they patrol...there could be less gun crime in urban settings. There are too many factors that can be applied as to a pro or con to a law that has become out of control in certain areas of the US.May your shit come to life and kiss you on the face.
