Enough of your lame sarcasm, you buffoon, you aren't good at it. Perhaps I missed out the development of oral presentation skills and other synergic aspects of it, such as phonetics. Either way, the oral skills autonomously develop in any other area you study in college/university. I, for example, have to do a certain portion of formal business presentations per semester, to obtain the credit. All I'm trying to say is that you don't need to be an English major to be better at the language than the rest.

I don't think you study business aspects such as Accounting, Finance, Economics at English classes

Lots of people started successful business without ever going to business school. Does that mean business school is useless?

If you are interested in the English language and/or teaching English, having an English major is very important. Can you tell me where all kinds of words come from? Where the pronunciation comes from? Can you tell me everything about the History of the English language, why and when it developed from what and how?

Teaching english in High Schools in Belgium, you really need to speak Dutch.

I don't really know about the colleges or uni's, but I'm sure if you want to teach at a university you need a doctorate like galleleo said. Even if you want to teach at our high schools you should have studied at a university. But that's only for the final 3 years.

And how to teach and how to motivate your students... those are probably the biggest challanges any teacher have.

Not really actually. "nowadays" alot of highschools throughout Europe want native english speaking teachers. And you can get tax redunded salary because you do a qualified job that inhabitants cannot do. This depends if you fit in the qualifications. Now, do some english tutoring after school (every class have parents who want that) and voila! there you go, an easy 3000 euro cash earned per month.

I'm not talking about entrepreneurship, you idiot. I'm talking about certain business programs such as accounting, whereas people go for CA designation and whatnot. Same goes with Economics, Finance, Auditing, Taxation. You won't learn those spontaneously by learning English, as opposed to vise versa.

WOW! History of English.. that must be very complicated.... for a moron like you.. If I wanted to I'd google it and learn everything about it in matter of minutes.

Ripper, getting a Master in English doesn't necessarily skill you in teaching and stuff.

And that only counts if you study in an English country Ward. Most of my books are in English but I still make papers and what not in Dutch. Presentations in Dutch. So were I to really want to learn English, I would still have to study and get a master in English.

Not at all, since the knowledge of English background has nothing to do with lingual skills

do people even need to get into a useless debate with Ward of all people, on the importance of any degree
My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

No, you were arrogant and said you could absorb "everything" about the history of the English language in a "matter of minutes." For someone who has a tenuous grasp on the language itself (at best), it's retarded of you to say anything of the sorts.

And for the record, knowledge of the history of language has a LOT to do with lingual skills. But then again, you've probably Googled it and figured that out already, right? Because Googling things is the keystone of research.

                                Again, bravo!
