Why does Madeleine get all the attention?

If you haven't heard of her then you've been living under a rock, because according to the news, the whole world knows about her... but why?!

I don't mind hearing about the odd missing child but now it's starting to irritate me, why does this one particular girl get so much attention (constant news coverage, million pound rewards, celebrities voicing concerns) when there are loads of kids out there missing right now, who will never have news coverage, who will never have rich people offering rewards, who will never be known by celebrities... why the heck is this girl so special?

Yet I seem to be the only one infuriated by this, does nobody else feel that way?

parents fault sort of for leaving a 4 years old unattended in a hotel room while they had dinner somewhere else. Middle class parents probably bring the attention, if this was a working class family, it would just be put down to another family tradjedy

Totally agreed Teddy.
Here in Belgium young girls get kidnapped all the time but they only get mentioned in newspapers, on television etc. when they are 100% sure the dissapearance will be a hype and people start giving money etc.
I'm just 1% away of thinking that the government kidnaps the girls to support the economy
