    polynomial/quadratic equations, not ur simple everyday ones, but ones that are weird as fuck....dont get how u do some of them....ive googled it and all there explaining was confuzzling. was wondering if ne ppl here knew this stuff well.

    equation like this:

    x/x-1+12/x+1=2/(x^2)-1

    i honestly dont understand how to do equations like this at all.............. HELP PLEASE

    Can't help you with that, since I've always been completely useless at math. In my opinion, math got really disturbing around grade three, when division was introduced.

    That said, I'm really fucking happy I don't have to struggle with math anymore, ever!

          Do you know how to multiply a binomial with another? As in, can you multiply (x-1) by (x-2)? If you can, then just treat it as you would any other fraction.

            wtf?....? i know how to foil but how would u take the x's out of the denominators, cuz u cant multiply anything out from what i can see.,jesus christ my teacher is retarded..., would u multiplu x^2-1 out?, that would make it retarded tho llol. i have no flippin idea.

              as said I'm about as useful as testicle cancer when it comes to math, but I'm pretty sure you're supposed to start simplifying with x/x-1+12/x+1=2/(x^2)-1

                yeah i got it i gotta get same denominator, and then like go from there, cuz like i need to multiply the x-1 to get it the asme ast he denominator as the one next to it. but ty tho.

                  Once you found the common denominator for the two terms on the left side, you'll find that it's the same denominator as the term on the right. But don't keep it at x^2-1, but rather at (x+1)(x-1). When doing this kind of math, you want to get rid of the polynomials and reduce them to simple units like (x+1). Keep factoring but don't expand. It'll usually save you some steps eventually.

                  Now, I don't know what level of math you are at right now, but all that denominator should tell you is that things get fucked up if x=1 or x=-1, as that would give you a zero in the denominator. I'll assume that you've been told to just assume that the denominator can't be zero, so x can't be 1 or -1, because that leads into an area of math you may not be covering in your grade. If that is the case, then for now, just leave the denominator alone and work on the numerator. You should be able to collect terms now that you have a common denominator. Do that, then factor the polynomial you get.

                        Do you mean:

                        x/(x-1) + 12/(x+1) = 2/(x^2 -1) ?

                        If that is the case, it solves as follows:

                        multiply both sides by (x^2 - 1), you will get:

                        /*since (x^2 - 1) = (x+1)(x-1)*/

                        x(x+1) + 12 (x-1) = 2

                        x^2 + 13x -14 = 0

                        (x-1)(x+14) = 0

                        x = 1 or x = -14

                        but since x != 1 (else x-1 = 0 -> x/(x-1) = infinite)

                        x = -14
