hi everybody, my name is pearl jam and i'm a bad, bad motherfucker.

anyway, i'm thinking about going to grad school sooner rather than later. and by sooner i mean this fall. so 2 questions: i've already been making payments on my student loans. do those payments go back into deferment if i go back to school? or take out another loan? does anyone know?

second question: who is in grad school (specifically people getting an mba) and how much more difficult is it? obviously it is more difficult, i'm just kind of curious as to what i'm in for.

so yeah. pre-emptive high fives to anyone that can enlighten me.

edit: i need to know the answers as they apply to the U.S. of by the grace of god and cheeseburgers A (United States), not holland or liberia
PLEASE, DON'T BE MISGUIDED...YA BITIN'. AND I'MA HAVE TA DIS YA, UNDERSTAND MISTA?

I went from U of Illinois to U of Wisc and it was cake. This is due to 1) you are a year smarter and in grad school "homework" is less important and I suck and doing daily homework and 2) no friends or social life at new school means surprising new work ethic. Possibly 3 is that UW is not as challenging as U of I.

I don't think grad school is any harder. The topics are more advanced but these should be topics that you are interested in and excel at somewhat. There's also more emphasis on research but I avoided that by taking the "coursework only" option and finished in 3 semesters taking classes only. If you are interested in research or are thinking about a PhD, then do the research. Research can be a little unpredictable so there's a possibility of taking longer if experiments, etc. don't show any results.

Since you're going back for schooling, I'm assuming you don't absolutely hate studying or suck at it....it shouldn't be too bad.

      I went straight after undergrad.

Google doesn't say much but there are a few links that I'm sure would be interesting to most of the people here

Ok I'm kind've in the same boat as you are. So first of all, it depends on the loan that you have. I negotiated with fafsa to extend my subsidized loan. So I'll have to pay them back within 6 months of grad school graduation, or they'll start charging interest. I'm not sure if it's the same with bank loans though.

Secondly, I'm currently on this "professional" MBA track at GW while working. It's pretty easy because all they do is bullshit you and then tell you to apply that bullshit to the workplace. Easy. But it takes 3 years. And it's only on nights and weekends, which works out great. I heard the regular full-time MBA is a lot harder because it's actually like graduate school and they're not considerate of the fact you're already working.

plus working while schooling gives my company a chance to reimburse some of my tuition. also it gives you money to pay off fafsa and what's left of the grad school tuition. The downside is it'll prolly take an extra year, and you'll rarely have any time to yourself. But the upside is that i'll take care of all my loans, undergrad and grad, before I graduate with an MBA.
