make sure you put it on my computer before you leave, right thur.Originally posted by Kolar View PostI don't think you can have it both ways on health care. The goal of privatization is not to make a system more efficient, even in practice is almost always creates more levels of bureaucracy it set out to destroy with the added bonus of unchecked corruption. The movie makes its point very clear; the system doctors, nurses and other officials have to work under is based on money. Not on helping people and definitely not on stats concerning patients, wait times ect...Last edited by Cops; 06-25-2007, 04:02 AM.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Sicko? The truth about the US healthcare system
---Having the system run by for-profit insurance companies turns out to be inefficient and expensive as well as dehumanising. America spends more than twice as much per capita on health care as France, and almost two and a half times as much as Britain. And yet it falls down in almost every key indicator of public health, starting, perhaps, most shockingly, with infant mortality, which is 36 per cent higher than in Britain.
A recent survey by the management consulting company McKinsey estimated the excess bureaucratic costs of managing private insurance policies - scouting for business, processing claims, and hiring "denial management specialists" to tell people why their ailment is not covered by their policy - at about $98bn a year.

I guess I'm mostly astonished how you can have something like this ran by companies that are required by law to maximize their profits.TWL-J champ season 5 (Elusive)

sighMy father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen. I then proceeded to his home bar and made four martinis in one shaker with unfamiliar glassware and a non standard shaker and did the same thing. From that moment forward I knew he had no compunction about my cock ever being in his daughter's mouth.

From a Canadian perspective it's almost silly not to live in America for a few years if you're a Nurse or Doctor, they will give you several thousand dollars as a sign on bonus and they will also find you a place to live. Not to mention that Doctors and Nurses are making a crap load more than Canadian Doctors and Nurses.Originally posted by Epinephrine View PostHell doctors from both countries attend the same conferences anyway and use the same technologies
edit: now that the Canadian dollar is almost on par with the American dollar the incentive to relocate to herica' has probably lost some interest but its still not a bad idea.
5 years ago, American to Canadian Currency; 1 American Dollar = 65 cents Canadian. That's ridonkulous.
Average Canadian Nurse makes what 40k a year and the average Nurse in America makes what 60k? I would be banging hoes left and right if I had that kind of cash.Last edited by Cops; 06-25-2007, 04:24 AM.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Are you taking into account the cost of living in the US? If you have a different opinion and have some facts to back it up please do Liquid. I'm not saying Vitha is citing anything but if all of this is propaganda and you can explain how this movie is so off on reality then please I want to hear it.Originally posted by Liquid Bluesigh
I wouldn't want to hear some assholes speaking bad about Canada so I understand where you might be coming from but on topics like these the discussion is almost always killed by this idea that anything critical is Anti-American (Anti-Capalistic, Anti-Western), thus bias and unwanted.Last edited by Kolar; 06-25-2007, 04:37 AM.

Products have generally always been cheaper in America, shit I gotta hit up Buffalo and get some sneakers. As far as gas/food/housing goes it all depends where you live.Originally posted by Liquid Blue View PostAre you taking into account the cost of living in the US? Here's two links both near the bajillion Hospitals located in Boston.

A decent apartment in downtown Toronto will cost me at least a grand a month, and I'm talking about a grungy thank god you've got a stove apartment.Last edited by Cops; 06-25-2007, 04:41 AM.it makes me sick when i think of it, all my heroes could not live with it so i hope you rest in peace cause with us you never did

Herica' spends more per capita for health care and gets about the same service as the public system in Canada, Big Business cares about making money and not providing the best service for the people, today is June 25th, Michael Moore makes money off telling the American people things that they should already know, and last time I checked the sky is in fact blue.Originally posted by Kolar View PostIf you have a different opinion and have some facts to back it up please do Liquid. I don't have a problem with discussing the state of healthcare in the United States or anywhere else, merely the snide comments that get thrown in during these type of discussions.Originally posted by KolarIf you have a different opinion and have some facts to back it up please do Liquid. I'm sure if I made these comments-Originally posted by KolarI wouldn't want to hear some assholes speaking bad about Canada so I understand where you might be coming from but on topics like these the discussion is almost always killed by this idea that anything critical is Anti-American (Anti-Capalistic, Anti-Western), thus bias and unwanted.
If you are an american... pray that you won't get sick. Some examples from "the greatest country ever!"about another country, while also saying things likeAnyways.. should be an eye-opener if you live in the states. Or if you are anti-american it should be a laugh (I didn't laugh except for the absurdity of some stuff, I have compassion you know).
I didn't claim to know anything beyond watching the film by Moore. That's just a part...there is other stuff too in the movie. Like comparing the system to what Canada, UK or France got.I wouldn't be helping any positive, constructive discussion about anything. How is this any different? It's not that the discussion is killed because topics like these are anti-american, it's that people from other countries (who have no clue what they're talking about) feel the need to make ignorant and idiotic comments repeatedly throughout discussion attempts. American posters get so fed up they stop trying and the european/canadian posters get so high off their own farts and condescending comments that they end up just floating off into the upper atmosphere.I guess I'm mostly astonished how you can have something like this ran by companies that are required by law to maximize their profits.
I could go find facts and research the topic if I felt inclined, but my motivation to do so is severely cut down when Europeans with insecurity issues feel the need to make thinly-veiled potshots at America with the smokescreen of discussion blanketing their poor quips at humor.
My sister is paying $1200 a month for the place she's in right now, and she still lives an hour from DC. Face's gf just moved to Arlington (right across the bridge from DC) so he can give you an even better estimate of how expensive it is to live around here.Originally posted by CopsA decent apartment in downtown Toronto will cost me at least a grand a month, and I'm talking about a grungy thank god you've got a stove apartment. My father in law was telling me over Thanksgiving about this amazing bartender at some bar he frequented who could shake a martini and fill it to the rim with no leftovers and he thought it was the coolest thing he'd ever seen.
