Pretty awesome though. I guess that explains why the cops didn't take us to jail when we were all drinking at Red, White, and Boom in Columbus. He came over and obviously none of us were 21, but he just told us to pour our beer out. Either he knew about the law or didn't feel like taking 10 drunk college students to jail.

Anyway, that's pretty cool. If I'm ever about to be arrested I'll just say that I'm on my way to church

Most cops don't feel like arresting kids for underage drinking simply because of the drinking... it's too much paperwork and a hassle for something that happens all the time.

Like this one time, we were at "The Y" (no, not the YMCA), it's a fork in a path in the middle of a forest (in the shape of none other than a 'Y') where we used to meet and drink and have a fire and listen to music and what not... Anyways, a trooper comes down on a report of tresspassing (because obviously someone owns the property). Anyways, he asked us (who were all underage... probably 17-18 at the time) who was driving (there were like 5-6 cars there) because he didn't want any drunk driving and a few of us raised are hands.. he didn't even ask any of the drivers if they had anything to drink nor breathalized us, and simply told us to move it somewhere else. No pouring out of beer, no confiscating beer, nothing... just told us to go somewhere else.

Anyways, most officers don't really care as long as no one is going to drink and drive.


And, as the penalty is collected by a civil fine by that statute, I'm sure any violations of that code would not be enforced by any Ohio's DA's office, as it is probably a 'blue law' like many other old laws, such as "consentual sodomy," forbidding the act of oral or anal sex even with consent of both individuals (an old attempt to ban homosexual acts back in the day), which can still be found on the books in some states though, obviously, not enforced.

i was arrested at a fourth of july party two years ago for having a beer in one hand, a bottle rocket in the other, and trying to steer the boat with my knee.

We were at Nationwide around 6-7, but we moved down by the WNCI pit once it got dark out. What sucked is that I didn't get to see the finale. I heard it and saw some of the reflections on the building, but unfortunately we were walking away from the fireworks because one of my friends was all but passed out. He had something crazy like 10 shots during the pregame, then downed about 5 beers while we were there. He's a big guy, but it was too much. So about halfway through the fireworks we all had to leave and carry him out. The finale sounded pretty sweet though, sucks I didn't get to see it

we always carry alcohol because yeah, cops usually make us pour it out

but we got this idea from my friend, he had like a case of beer in his trunk. he DIDN'T know that his friend had another case of beer, some pot and coke in his trunk. so the cop pulls my friend over, and the guy is like, "yeah, i have a case in the trunk", and the cop made him pour it out.

so basically, by admitting he had beer in his trunk, he got away with having alot of waaay more illegal substances in his car, because the cop assumed he had my pal scared shitless (which was, at the time, true) and never bothered to search anything else. so we always buy cheap case of beer and keep it just in case

The cops could care less about drinking at Red, White and Boom. Too many people, too few cops.

The best spot is Vets Memorial by the way, it's close to where the fireworks are set off and there's nothing to hinder your view.

not all cops are nice- i got arrested on the 26th of june 2006 (i was 20 at the time) for standing outside of a bar talking to the guy who was checking id's (i knew him, wasn't trying to argue my way in). The cops were plain clothes university AET (alcohol enforcement taskforce). They took my fake id, gave me 2 tickets: one for minor in possession of beer (i wasn't even inside yet) and one for possession of a fake id. He then threatened to take me to jail since it was a saturday night and according to him i'd have to wait a couple of days to bailed out. I said something about them not showing any id themselves when they searched me to provoke this but afterwards i shut up. the bitch cop even showed up to the court case 3 months later (i was the last person up) and said that she would'nt drop the tickets but wouldn't write me up on academic probation for school (mind you it was june). i fucking love pigs

yeah this was my first year at nationwide drinking a lil bit. but right before we left there me and some kids smoked in his car and watched the fireworks, then left. but i dont see why ppl(if underage) would bring the beer w/them. thats what the cars for, u drink a bit til u get a buzz, a couple hits til u feel the same thing. then u watch the fireworks.the ending was amazing, seemed as if the entire sky was like gonna fall on my face w/fireworjs.

p.s. also always keep a backup piece stuffed in the cushions, phew.

Cops can't search your trunk without permission or a warrant, just so you know... But, if you got drugs in the trunk they could bring a K9 unit in and he would do his thing giving probable cause to search the trunk, but it's always a good thing to know
