Fear of death, to me is being scared of dying, either scared off how you might die, or what will happen after (scared to cease to exist, scared of going to hell, etc. etc.).

i'll never know if i am scared of death until i actually face it. right now im not scared of it... i dont think i will die any time remotely soon... what if i got cancer or some shit though? i have no idea what i would do. i might even become religious. it is pretty hard for me to accept either side of the religion debate with 100 percent certainty, so i would probably try to play it safe. everything inside me tells me that there is no god, but i have been wrong before. being wrong in this case would have certain consequences (oh, burning for eternity) that i am not quite thrilled by. i know it is all probably a huge lie, but i think the only way i could feel 100 % confident in dying, i would have to think i was going to heaven.

Again, no its not about how you perceive it. It is in fact quite well defined and not your oppinion. Im not gona try to explain something you could google quite well on your own, but the word fear does not only describe a feeling, it says more. and being scared of death is a fear. i rest my case.

Actually what you fear is completely personal, so that means what I associate with fear when you talk about death is completely personal.

I am not scared of dieing, I am do not fear death. I just rather not die yet.

what we fear as individuals will differ, the fact that YOU are afraid to die, doesnt mean everyone else in the world is.

also, if everyone is so incredibly scared of dying, noone would ever be able to committ suicide, as wed all be too pussy to kill ourselves.. non?

everyone who tries to avoid his death fears it by definition just like fear of height means you try to avoid heights. it is not the word for a feeling, it is the word for a reaction. suiciders might fear life more than death.

I am afraid of heights (not like stepping on the kitchen ladder and I get a heart attack afraid), but I don't avoid heights because of it, I just don't go stand on ledges or anything.
