Just looking at the processor, and the graphics card at 7900 GTX, maybe the more expensive 7950 GTX, how that it be more powerful than the one I linked too? When they let you configure the hardware, I'm gonna stuff 2x NVIDIA GeForce 8800 ULTRA 756MB into it, with Quad-Core 3.0GHz.

And I don't see the point of having a "MOBILE" machine at 4kg. That isn't much mobile anymore. The worst is seeing a nerdy kid run around with a gigantic laptop thinking he's awesome. You forgot to mention that your laptop lasts if you're lucky MAX 2 hours, so much for a mobile super laptop huh.

The point of having a laptop is to have one you can easily carry around and use. And right now laptops isn't close to desktop machines hardware wise, maybe in some years, but not now. More powerful laptop = increase in size. Loses the whole point.

And to liquid black, in the other thread, you're talking about getting a new machine with the awesome geforce 8500 GT. It costs 550+ kr the 256 mb version, while the 512 is around 600 kr. A GeForce 8800GTX 768MB goes for 5k kr.

Obviously both of us got different views on what's a lot and not, it's just annoying to have a kid like you running and whine cause I'm going to spend more than you. I'm fully aware that it's overpriced, and I already said it in the first post, stop crying about it.

    EDIT: typo

I understand what you are trying to say.. but my laptop is faster than that. You copied the weakest version of the m1710. The processor goes a lot faster, 2.33 can be overclocked, and has actually outscored a lot of popular options in desktops that run dual video cards (I run something like 512 but mooches some from my ram so 756 or so of video memory?) Integrated blu ray burner, card readers, smart card readers, bluetooth, etc, etc, etc, blah blah. Anyways... no I don't use it when I'm traveling, I DRIVE everywhere, I get it out once I ARRIVE.. Would you want to lug a desktop, keyboard, mouse, monitor and all the cables everywhere you go? Or take a laptop bag in, pull it out and plug it in. The only single cable I have to use is for power. That's easy, that's a logical reason to drop some extra money.

It's possible where you live they don't have those options? I'm not sure. It's very easy to find if you look for it. But anyways, I paid premium because I'm on the road. You are paying premium for? I'm just trying to save you some money man, even if you have it .. I think you should try waiting for a sale or the price to come down or build it yourself. It's a fine computer but really seems priced to rip you off IMO.

PPS: And my laptop is pretty easy to carry around (8lbs.. like two college text books), I don't take it anywhere public anyways.. so I don't care if anyone's impressed by it's fancy lights and case.

And if you are confused, I'm not suggesting you GET a laptop, I'm comparing how much spent/might spend and the logic behind it. I had a valid need for it. If I got a desktop it would be sitting back at my other apartment when I'm out of town. Then no SS.

basically an 8k tag tells me you're spending an extra 6k to be able to look at a benchmark number and go "oooooh."

That's retarded. If you had half a clue about what you were actually buying, you could recognize that and not come off as a complete idiot.
I know what I want, and I know what I'm buying, a high end computer.

I've been reading reviews, and talked a lot with my cousin about it, master degree(most of the americans are happy if you get a bachelor, ), working for Linpro in Norway. So you guys aren't adding anything new, I know what all the components do.

Money isn't an issue for me, it obviously is for most of you, now stop calling other idiots cause you're poor.

Money I tried to be reasonable with you, I'm not some poor American and I only came back to say you're an idiot because.....:

                      1. By us telling you that spending that much money is silly when you have other options means we are poor stupid Americans. I make a lot of money and own lots of expensive toys. Lots of others in the forums do the same.

                      2. You think a masters degree or ANY degree (for that matter) equals intelligence. I have about a million reasons to support my point but no reason to waste more time here... it's just common sense. Apparently graduate school doesn't teach people that paying 8k is silly when you can do it for half the price.

Moving out soon together with a friend who is an civil engineer student. So I was thinking of helping him a little. So the machine is mostly going to be used for running Autocad, SolidWorks, only seen him use those the few times I've watched. And gaming with maxed graphics ofcourse.

Fine, go ahead and waste money. Feel free not to actually put it to a good use.

                            Obviously not.

I'm done--there's a lot of people here who actually are trying to help you, and you're too stubborn to realize that. You and your "expert" cousin can unpack your shiny new expensive brick.

                            PS - I'm selling a TV if you're interested. I'm only asking for 2 billion dollars! It's a steal!
Music and medicine, I'm living in a place where they overlap.

It's still a nice machine, only thing I'm curious about is the shipping price..

And it's my money, been some years since mom gave me money at all .

That's right, high end all the way.

I never whined, I just need to answer the poor americans crying.
