I used to check news sites, Global and mail (the only Canadian national daily news paper, the National Post is insulation for homeless people), Toronto Star, cbc, etc and even actually check the Economist (hell, I used to buy it) until I realized it's a conserative rag! Also read a few British news sites but I don't even remember which ones they were. I eventually became too jaded and cynical.

That being said, at this stage of my life...

• CBC.ca (Only news site I read now, if someone important dies it will tell me and I can act accordingly. Elated when that American religous hate monger died not long ago, sad when Trudeau died, and indifferent when Oliver Hill died for example)
• Denver Post (Colorado Avalanche stuff)
• Rocky Mountain News (same)
• TSN.ca (Did Colorado win? Here I can check. Did Calgary lose? I can check that too)
