For Thanksgiving! Since it's my second favorite holiday of the year (behind Christmas of course, how can you not like all the food plus presents?) I want to know what you guys had as well. A lot of people have regular shit but I had Thanksgiving with my ex-girlfriend (who was half Cuban and half Turkish) last year and her family had some interesting dishes. Since that wasn't this year though I'll list what my good old Southern family had:
Orderbs: 2 types of cheese that were good (don't know that names but not your run-of-the-mill bullshit), bagel chips, French bread roll things, feta/pesto dip (excellent), sun-dried tomato and peppers dip, and raw oysters on crackers.
Drinks: Mimosas, white wine, various bitch drinks, whiskey.
Main course: Fried turkey, fried oysters, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, some type of pasta and shrimp salad, cranberry sauce, homemade dinner rolls, some type of pear casserole, macaroni and cheese casserole (it's more liquidy and cheesy than regular mac and cheese, hard to explain), seafood gumbo, and two different types of stuffing (which my Southern family calls "dressing").
Dessert: pumpkin smash casserole (a casserole thing with like cake mix, pumpkin, pecans, and a bunch of other shit - it was fucking awesome), coconut cake, derby pie (it's a pecan pie with a layer of chocolate in it - amazing), some type of fruit cake.
All in all, a great day. My family always goes all out because we have at least 20 people every year and everyone brings at least one thing.
