please see my post about notheavensent

I would like to discuss point E)

wait there is nothing to discuss, it's impossible to make a difference

lastly if you are delusional and DO believe you could ever "change" anything by voting, then wouldn't you want LESS people to vote so your vote is worth MORE?

I think voting is great if you are pming your answers to TWbot

Think of your posts as an essay HeavenSent lacking any sort of source, consensus has marked it with a failing mark for not providing substantial evidence. This is common knowledge and it's getting pathetic, why does Conc even need to keep repeating that you need to source yourself especially with wild claims.

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO GRADE TEN ENGLISH, oh yeah I forgot Ward thinks English's useless thus we had to get rid of it.

Last time I checked the burden of proof in any argument belongs to the person making the claims, otherwise you get the kind of arguments present in religion and it all boils down to rhetorics and ad hominem/ad veracundiam statements (see above)

hey man this isn't about religion, well not always, it's about a guy telling us that the government and this world is not as we see it and even if he may be right he provides no proof.

Let's forget religion all together because facts beliefs and opinions just fuck up that debate in a cluster fuck, let' deal with things we can actually prove and source and unfortunately HeavenSent cannot do any of this. He can drop links to videos like it's going out of style and expects us to do the leg work to check out if these sources are credible, HAH. I've talked to Kolar (Who usually gives me the straight up answer) and he said half the links were bullshit and I know he wasted an hour of his life so why the fuck am I going to waste an hour of my life tracking down his sources that usually turn out to be some guy in the middle of Texas wearing a tin foil hat.

edit: for the sake of argumentation I looked into one of the links and I was right no Education, No sources, Not worth of being taken as a fact. Sorry but in a world full of misrepresented facts and opinions you got to play the safe card and make sure when someone tells you the sky is blue that it is in fact blue.

I am studying at university right now and the first thing I learned and that keeps being repeated to me is that you have to carefully document your sources.

Anyone that claims something without saying what his/her sources are is not being academically correct. This Coleman character can write books all he wants, but if he doesn't give his sources in his book and where he got everything from, his work won't be accepted by the academic world.

And you like to state that he has more authority than any of the professors we learn our stuff from. But what every professor keeps telling me is that I should not just swallow everything they tell me but that I have to think about it myself, look into it, read about it and then draw my own conclusions.

If conc would want to do the same about the Gary Coleman books he would need references to the sources used by this character and not have to go find all the used literature (if he even used any sources besides his thumb) himself and read it all.

It was Simon who made the Idea of limited rationality famous in his book, administrative behaviour, (I am sure he is not the one to invent it) and what limited rationality means is that it is impossible for human beings to comprehend everything about a situation or oversee all the possible actions and consequences, etc. Limited rationality also applies to absorbing information as what Conc already hinted about. It is humanly impossible to research every piece of data we receive, its what makes references to your sources so important. Or at the very least show where you get your conclusions from, what data, where did that data come from, how did you reach your conclusion etc. Every single step you take must be documented so that others can see your thought process and base their own conclusions off of that.

Since the first link is a forum I'd like to take a moment to recognize ConcreteSchlyrd for his fine contribution to this forum. Mr. Schlyrd has used his well accredited education to service the SSCU Trench Wars Forums for many years and continues to do so without abusing his forum position (as far as I know).

                  Thank you Conc.

                        A. (Main Point 1) Responsibility
Interesting concept. I think we do have a responsibility to exercise the constitutional rights that previous generations fought for.

                        B. (Main Point 2) Morally and Ethically
Primarily this. Voting should be based on a political parties and/or a leaders manifesto and moral values. Not just morals though, also political and economic stances - people need to shake off the shackles of ignorance and learn about what they're voting for.

                        C. (Main Point 3) Set an Example
To who? Their children? Pretty weak reason to vote, I can see the advantages of it though.

                        D. (Main Point 4) Get Involved
                        Again, weaksauce.

                        E. (Main Point 5) Make a Difference
I suppose this links in with point 2, if you want change you should do it democratically through constitutional means. Voting is such a great gift.
